By Vini.lad Go To PostOur main issue is not the new variant, the problem is that public health has colapsed all around the country. The new variant is more infeccious, yes, but people are dying on the queue for a CTI/ventilation spot everywhere.Damn, stay safe, man.
There's not enough care for everyone infected. This was always going to happen when we have a president against vaccination and lockdowns. He declined pfeizer offer of 70m doses in september last year.
Our attorney general of the union just said yesterday that he was against prohibiting churches cults, he said "christians are willing to die to keep their freedom of religion and cult".
This is not the summit. This is gonna get worse and worse. At the moment, only 10% of the population got the 1st dose of vaccines, and less than 4% got the 2nd one. Vaccination pace is extremely slow. I'll be extremely surprised if I get the first shot this year.
I'm completely paranoid whenever I need to leave my house these days.
Didn't Bolsonaro get covid twice already or something?
By Lunatic Go To PostJust take some medicine lads no point feeling like shit when you aren't even really sick.
Yeah I’ve been pippin’ Ibuprofen...
Went home early from work

Are the first and second doses the same? or are they different, which causes people to feel worse after the second dose sometimes?
lol, reminds me of the guy that went into a Waffle House and cooked his own food because the employees were sleep or something
By Celcius Go To PostAre the first and second doses the same? or are they different, which causes people to feel worse after the second dose sometimes? The only difference I believe is in the bodies immune response. The first time it will only get a weak immune response as it is new and the second your body noticing the RNA better the second time so you get a stronger immune response.
You know that most people don't know that a fever is actually just your bodies immune response raising its internal temperature to try and kill the viral or bacterial intruder.
By Lunatic Go To PostYou know that most people don't know that a fever is actually just your bodies immune response raising its internal temperature to try and kill the viral or bacterial intruder. It probably hasn't helped that "The common cold" is actually just a bunch of different viruses and when people refer to it they are actually just talking about the symptoms related to said viruses.
Basically, actual sickness and symptoms (as an immunoresponse or otherwise) have really been conflated colloquially. I guess symptoms themselves can be referred to as a sickness so I'm even confusing myself.

My wife felt a little weird last night but is totally fine today. Me ... lol
Mask mandate lifted today. I went to the gas station 3 hours after midnight and everyone looked at me like I'M WEIRD for wearing the mask.
Yeah boi. Reddit Northern Ireland has basically turned into a haven for conspiracy nuts over the fact numbers have been low for about a month without restrictions easing (except for schools) until now. "It's a power grab by the medical advisors etc"
Thinking about the AZ jab. It's funny that back in December before the roll out, BBC Panorama did a show on it that was so celebratory it was verging on propaganda - 'here's a great British achievement etc' and talking about how rich Sarah Gilbert is going to be now. I just find it amusing to me that it's now got so much bad PR.

How Chile built one of the world’s most successful vaccination campaigns
The Latin American country bet big on vaccines and relied on a strong primary health care network. Now, a quarter of the country has had at least one shot.
Today:
The study by the University of Chile also found that one dose of the Sinovac jab was only 3 per cent effective against infection.

In some other good news. There's a study that's been published in lancet done by the Oxford University.
Basically using asthma spray reduced the risk of getting into a hospital by 90%. Might even reduce the risk of long lasting effects of covid.
Just scheduled an appointment for the 15th!. Said I had a condition but it won't matter on that day lol. Got pfizer too which is the vaccine I wanted the most.

By diehard Go To PostJust curios, why did you want Pfizer the most?Modern seems to have a lot of reported side effects and afaik pfizer is one more effective vaccines along with moderna. J&J is still too new though apparently it might be stronger against the new variants.
This is bad for developing nations. Hopefully the vaccines approved for COVAX can step up their delivery soon.
Good news: the pubs are open in England.

There is a problem with this forum. With so many Brits on here, it's a disgrace to not have a mod representing the motherland.

63% of Cayman’s adult population have received at least one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Our lowest uptake is in the 16-30 range at 28% but now that it's available to everyone I imagine that will change. We have enough vaccines to fully vaccinate 90% of the population so we cancelled our next shipment because we didn't need it.
By Daz Go To PostOh look. Puddles of vomit everywhere, I guess the pubs are open again.
This Island has problems.
They may have just released the latest Knicks game for streaming overseas.
It's insane the amount of vaccines the USA has. Like all the rich people from LATAM are just going to Miami to get vaccinated and head right back home.
It's disgusting how a single country can have so much over stock while the rest of the world is struggling to get even their medical professionals vaccinated.
