By Fenderputty Go To PostNever heard of it. Glad you’re ok man. Must have sucked not being able to see the fam
yeah it was. I saw them twice during the iso period, my son was not happy that he didn't get to see me and so my wife brought him by after school and we did the distance thing :/
that definitely helped, but not being able to get close was something i wasn't totally prepared for and how much it hits you

I’ve grown quite accustomed to kids greeting me at the door and wiping my daily “fuck this job” stresses away.
Where you think you caught covid?

I have no idea, man.
We were going out places but always masked up. Me, double masked. I carried sanitizer in my pocket at all time. Between my circle I was the most cautious out of everybody.
The day before I started feeling symptoms my nephew had his 13th bday party celebration at a restaurant. I had a mask on in there despite family members giving me shit and cracking jokes. I was most likely contagious at that point too. Imagine if I didn't have one on.
Early on I was definitely mad too. How careful I had been compared to other friends and family who didn't give a shit, and yet I was the one who caught it. I told my bro in law that hey, you may want to get your son tested, he was sitting next to me. He responded with "he'll be aight lol". I haven't spoken to him since. Just pissed me off that people like that don't care, I did, and I got it.
I believe I heard of not needing a second shot of the vax if you had COVID too. You'll be good for a long while, Smokey. Glad you're okay.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostI believe I heard of not needing a second shot of the vax if you had COVID too. You'll be good for a long while, Smokey. Glad you're okay. There's a bit of weird stuff going on with the recommendations for vaccinations regarding people who have been infected. I strongly suspect they are targeting the messaging of still needing to get a vaccine to the "Oh yeah I definitely had it early on" when they just had a cold or something type people.
They say the usual stuff about not know how long antibodies last and all that but all those same reasons apply to people who have been vaccinated and we clearly have enough evidence to show that a symptomatic, positive test result person has better protection from covid than any of the vaccines.
By Lunatic Go To PostGood to hear you are doing better Smokey. You're basically free from worring about yourself.

have any links?
i'm curious in my case...like...what happened at the micro level. I got the 1st shot vaccine, then covid, so does my body just override what was given to me or what
By Smokey Go To Posthave any links?Hmm I don't think I have any great links to back up my suspicions about their messaging. The part about an actual infection being more effective than the vaccines should be pretty easy to find though, even the worst metric of using a positive antibody test to determine a previous infection is still higher than the most optimistic vaccine efficacy numbers. (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/only-50-people-are-known-to-have-contracted-covid-19-more-than-once-but-medical-experts-are-on-high-alert-11613743994)

There are about 60 confirmed cases of reinfection globally. That’s far less than 1% of the 112 million coronavirus cases reported around the world. BNO News, a Dutch news site, is tracking reinfections at a global level; it’s identified 57 confirmed cases of reinfection along with roughly 11,700 suspected or probable reinfections.
Here's what the CDC says about still needing vaccinations after contraction: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/facts.html
Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19. That’s because experts do not yet know how long you are protected from getting sick again after recovering from COVID-19
The case they are making an example for is one where you got infected and your immunity has worn off, this definitely isn't the case for you right now. Any "we don't know how long antibodies last" reasoning applied to a confirmed infection apply to vaccination as well.
Vaccines aren't some thing that give you magical protection from a virus, they are just a method of safely exposing your body to a harmless version of the virus (even if the mRNA ones do it in a fancier way) for your own immune system to generate antibodies and gain that sweet T Cell memory.
If i was in your position I would skip the next vaccination and wait for one that is modified for new variants. Obvious caveats of i'm not a doctor, talk to yours.
its good that you had your first shot already though because that DID protect you from severe symptoms and worse.
Glad to hear you're okay man
Glad to hear you're okay man
By Yurtlicious Go To Postits good that you had your first shot already though because that DID protect you from severe symptoms and worse.Well, maybe. The time from infection is mostly 2-11 days with the average being about 5.7 days. It kinda sounds like Smokey could have picked up the virus at the same time or even before his vaccination.
Glad to hear you're okay man
133M shots administered. 175M delivered thus far.

Florida opening up to all 18+ next Monday. I put myself on a waiting list.
Also hit up my local Publix and pharmacist said stop by around 7:30 to see if they have any left over doses or no-shows.

There's simply no way MĂ©xico passed us
I also feel our official number is much lower than the real one.
We're getting close to 4k daily deaths. Most of that because there's no vacancy on the hospitals in a lot of cities. Calamity.

It's just a bit down the page, but note that not every country is up to date, e.g. Brazil's data only goes to the 26th of December
I also cant imagine all those numbers being very accurate. Having seen how the philippines just simply didnt contribute any deaths to covid for the longest time, as they didnt actually test for it and so on.

Will you get the vaccine:
6% Only if required
29% absolutely not
White Evangelical Trumpians are also at 6% and 28% on those same metrics.
By Smokey Go To Poststill don't know if i should get this second fuking shot
I mean, if you've had the real thing, seems like the vaccine is overkill, but I know they're encouraging folks to get it anyway (both of my parents got it). And what the hell do I know, I'm no Adam/jjjjjjjjasper.
By Fenderputty Go To PostI get my second in a week. Feeling pretty good two weeks after the first dose nglI felt fine after my first shot, but got sick from the second: fever, headache, chills, body aches. I had the Moderna, for what it's worth.
I was finally able to find a place with covid vaccines and book my shots. Looks like I'll be getting the first one on Monday!
Still gotta wait til the 15th to even make an appointment ugh
Whatever, I'm in the last group eligible and I deserve it lol
