In some good news, some scientists of a university in Germany seemingly found the exact issue of the AZ vaccine and the complications and got the right method to handle it.
When the researchers examined the samples, they found that the vaccine activates the blood platelets, i.e. the thrombocytes. This normally only happens in the body during wound healing, when the blood clots and closes the wound. The vaccination activates a mechanism in some patients that leads to the formation of blood clots in the brain. Since the mechanism has been so clearly identified, a targeted treatment option has also been developed. Those affected can now be administered an active substance that helps against thrombosis.

We're still going forward with Astra-Zenica here but we're also full on heading for that third wave.

The big thing seems to be schools and kindergarten. Allthough quite a few of them are having weekly tests now plus you can test yourself, it's still going up.

BERLIN—Scientists in Europe said they had identified a mechanism that could lead the AstraZeneca PLC vaccine to cause potentially deadly blood clots in rare instances as well as a possible treatment for it.https://apple.news/A9fNOTDb-QdqIORRNQXL8Sg
Two teams of medical researchers in Norway and Germany have independently found that the vaccine could trigger an autoimmune disorder causing blood to clot in the brain, which would offer an explanation for isolated incidents across Europe in recent weeks.

Woof.
Numbers have been going up here, especially for kids since we've opened schools and kindergarten.
my sis teaches kindergarten and primary school and throughout the last year pretty much her entire class has tested positive. luckily she got checked constantly and never had it which is kind of a miracle.
Glad your sister is alright Dipro. Proper hard to avoid catching something when it comes to teaching rooms full of kids
Ugh, dumbass tourists fucking up Miami Beach. Vast majority of 1000+ arrested are from out of state. 90 with illegal weapons. Wish these people would stay the fuck out of Florida.
Got my 2nd. Indian lady who administered it was rougher than the Canadian lady I had last time. Bitch stuck that thing right in there so hard and shooed me away fast.

I'm eligible this week but they will have vaccinations available at my work in April so I'll wait for that.

Found out that pharmacies like Publix have a no-show list to administer vaccines to those who can show up and replace no-shows within 30 mins of the call, instead of wasting the vax. Going to sign up for that.
just heard that a colleague of mine is in the hospital on ventilator and critical. he's 38 and in decent shape. damn.

I was shattered after my Zeneca.
I thought now that I have my first dose I would book an appointment at the opticians for new specs. Booked out for the next month except for one slot. That must be where all the transmission is coming from, everyone piling into the opticians.

By Pennywise Go To PostAZ is really the biggest trash company during the pandemic by far. What'd they do now?
By Pedja Go To PostWhat'd they do now?I'm guessing he is talking about their efficacy numbers that they released. They released ones from an older study that looked a little more rosy than the later study and kinda left those numbers out. Just silly brand sabotage because its not like the later study had terrible numbers or anything that they should have been trying to hide.
Trust in their vaccine has been eroded a lot for reasons outside their control, they don't need to be adding to it.
By Fenderputty Go To PostFirst dose of Pfizer didn’t phase me. Heard second dose wrecks people thoIt does for some. Had me a bit messed up but took some Panadol twice throughout the day and that did the job. My buddy had his 2nd yesterday and didn't have an issue but his sister did. Shit is weird.

It absolutely wrecked me. Started having a fever late on the night of the second shot, and two days later after a lot of pressure on my back and my chest, I went to the hospital in the amber lamp.
Turned out I had andocarditis... They reported it of course, but they also told me they hadnt heard of that as a side effect of the vaccine, only of covid itself. But do keep in mind I also got an auto immune disease that is wrecking my body in the first place. My heart didnt take any damage though, just went to a checkup a week ago and there's no visible damage or anything.
My wife got the last dose on Tuesday. She's doing ok, no big effects. A little sleepy. She's 31 and pretty healthy
Apparently the only difference is the needle stings a bit more the 2nd time? Might just depend on the injector

So last early last week, I ended up catching COVID:
Woke up that morning sneezing and not feeling well. As the day progressed I started feeling "cold" but not really the "chills". By the late afternoon/evening I had a headache. Stayed in bed and kept feeling worse and worse, eventually taking my temp which ready 101.2f. Was trying not to take any medicine, but around 3a the headache too much and I gave in with Tylenol. That broke the fever, but I was still feeling like shit. Made an appointment for the next day and yep:
I had congestion, mild cough, and a small headache at this point. Took some Dayquil which helped out. The following day I lost my taste and smell, along with my appetite. Miserable period of time. As the week progressed things got better, but I was having a hard time falling asleep at night. More so because my mind was restless rather than any covid symptoms. Keep thinking about all kinds of shit when you have it and it definitely gets you down. Started taking some nyquil at night to help with the mild symptoms and so I could actually get some sleep.
3 days later I ended up getting my smell and taste back, and started getting more and more energy. My appetite came back. Didn't feel any new symptoms this week, took the test today:
Very appreciative that my case was relatively mild. The first two days were definitely miserable with the fever, chills, and headache. The days after were more mentally draining, especially when I lost my taste and smell. That hurt man. Luckily my wife and son did not catch it, they went and stayed with a family member during my isolation. That was also pretty hard to deal with. Not being able to interact with my family and how that felt was pretty awful, but again, very thankful that my case was mild.
What sucks is I did get the 1st vaccine shot 5 days beforehand (Moderna). Now the nurse practitioners are telling me I should NOT get the second shot, due to my body already being full of antibodies, and you're supposed to wait 90 days for a shot if after you over covid. I had read some stories of folks feeling like hell getting either shot if they already had covid, and some say they wouldn't do it again, but i haven't heard of the 90 day "wait period". Anybody heard of this?
