My mom is a director at a LARGE nursing home in BK and she told me this back in May, June, July (etc) every time they released a list of deceased residents per facility. She always said they're only showing 50%. I may have mentioned it somewhere back in this thread.

……I'm sorry what the actual fuck
While I think the sentiment is all cute...these could've been random ass people injecting random shit. Wtf, indeed.

I'm pretty pro-EU, but they are getting this so so so wrong. Absolute idiocy and a complete capitulation of the moral high ground. And weirdly the UK govt is playing and taking this surprisingly well.
People are dying, governments under pressure, I wouldn’t rush with hot takes like saying the EU is trash. If not for the EU most of these countries would get a vaccine maybe somewhere next year.
Also nothing has actually happened, yet to the surprise of no one, English media already on the past tense.

Imagine being so gleeful for an almost bad decision just because for one idiotic reason or another you hate the EU and want a reason to say they are a bunch of far right assholes.
Let’s see what happens first.

wouldn't call that 'gleeful' really... not like the EU bungling stuff should surprise anyone after the past few years either
Some "people are fucking idiots" news from Portugal.
The firemen were called to remove two people from a water tunnel after they got trapped there while trying to escape from a restaurant that was operating after the curfew hours.
Police were also called to break up a swingers party with more than 20 people.
And people wonder why we suddenly one of the worst countries in the world in terms of percentage of new cases and deaths.

I don't really have the legal backround, so I can't really judge about alot of those things.
But overall nearly everyone involved looks like a fool.
Macron, that german business paper that claimed those 8% without properly verifying stuff, AZ.
The actual point that there weren't alot of people in the study above 65 is valid, but it was seemingly more than enough to approve the vaccine.
Either way it's a huge clusterfuck. Hopefully the EU will approve that new Biontech building fast and they will deliever more stuff, alongside the other two vaccines that seem to be working and need to be approved now.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a sweeping order late Friday requiring the use of face masks on nearly all forms of public transportation Monday as the country continues to report thousands of daily COVID-19 deaths.
The order, which takes effect at 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday (0459 GMT Tuesday), requires face masks to be worn by all travelers on airplanes, ships, trains, subways, buses, taxis, and ride-shares and at transportation hubs like airports, bus or ferry terminals, train and subway stations and seaports.
Under Donald Trump, who was president until Jan. 20, a CDC push to mandate masks in transit was blocked and the agency instead only issued strong recommendations for mask use. Trump also rejected efforts by Congress to mandate mask use.

oh i dunno. How they sat on their hands whilst Turkish Cypriots were being ethnically cleansed in Cyprus, then came out and punished them for daring to survive, with 30 years of victim-blaming, embargos, harsh rhetoric and pretending it never happened.
Then letting the same people who were responsible for that failed cleansing into the EU, despite failing the pre-condition of reunifying the 2 communities on the Island.
Then telling us "lol you're EU citizens even though we don't recognise you, wish you Muslims would fuck off lol" with 0 representation and letting the Greek side have complete ownership over everything in and around the Island, saying "lol you should reunify then" despite the south constantly saying no and doing everything they can to make it untenable for us.
And recently withholding vaccines unless Turkish Cypriots hold a Republic of Cyprus passport (good luck) and be signed up for their healthcare system, which requires Republic Citizenship first.
Banter.
Facism they don't see it bredrin because it doesn't directly effect them. How the EU treats a non white community is something that isn't even covered. Then you'll be labelled "Anti-EU" or "far right".
Or maybe universal healthcare can't ever look good
Not saying they didn't fuck up in a number of other ways, second dose delay being one of them

By Not Go To PostOr maybe universal healthcare can't ever look goodSeems strange to use vaccine rollout as a perk of universal healthcare when so many countries with universal healthcare have fumbled the ball.
Acting like the EU not existing would make it better is terribly naive. Nobody is sitting here arguing the EU is some perfect thing.
The alternative to "The EU is fucking up - like they've been fucking up a lot of stuff lately" isn't "well its better than nothing"
cmon lol

Simply not agreeing that it should end, but maybe I’m taking “fucked into oblivion” too literally.
Lightfoot is specifically talking about reopening indoor dining — an activity that has been directly linked to increased COVID-19 transmission. There has been no such linkage between outdoor dining and COVID-19 transmission, but California banned the activity in most of the state in early December, despite being one of the few states with a winter climate that would support it.
Despite the ban, California has had one of the worst winter COVID-19 surges in the country, which begs the following question: Is it possible that shutting down outdoor dining made the state's surge even worse?
Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease expert at UCSF, believes it's highly likely.https://www.sfgate.com/news/editorspicks/amp/California-outdoor-dining-ban-COVID-19-surge-worse-15882565.php
"We won’t be able to know the exact percentage it drove, but I would say closing outdoor dining certainly did not help and likely hindered efforts to avoid a surge," she said. "It shut down in early December, and things did not get better from there; things actually got worse. Restrictions should be about understanding the human condition and keeping places that are safe open. Those of us who argue for a harm reduction approach have the same goal as the lockdownists: We want to reduce transmission, but we understand the human condition and the need to be with people."
Not a particularly big fan of Simon Harris, but he handled the virus situation so much better than Donnelly during his time as Minister for Health. Or at the very least, his Comms werr far better and he didn't make people think he was a raging prick.
