My coworker's daughter tested positive. My coworker has been working from home since Friday afternoon, she is now waiting to get called to be tested, if she's also positive then we should all go home and wait to be tested.
As the coronavirus swept across the world, it picked up random alterations to its genetic sequence. Like meaningless typos in a script, most of those mutations made no difference in how the virus behaved..
But one mutation near the beginning of the pandemic did make a difference, multiple new findings suggest, helping the virus spread more easily from person to person and making the pandemic harder to stop.
The mutation, known as 614G, was first spotted in eastern China in January and then spread quickly throughout Europe and New York City. Within months, the variant took over much of the world, displacing other variants.

Lol, like that won't backfire.

This country is obsessed with tradition - there was no way Christmas was going to be sacrificed.
Couldn't wait to blame the Islams in June though, despite record numbers of people heading to the beach during Eid.

The problems start with the fact that Monday’s announcement did not present results from a single, large-scale, Phase 3 clinical trial, as was the case for earlier bulletins about the BNT-Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Instead, Oxford-AstraZeneca’s data came out of two separate studies: one in the UK that began in May, and another in Brazil, which got started at the end of June. These two studies were substantially different from one another: They didn’t have standardized dosing schemes across the trials, for one thing, nor did they provide the same “control” injections to volunteers who were not getting the experimental Covid vaccine. The fact that they may have had to combine data from two trials in order to get a strong enough result raises the first red flag.

Reading what the article alongside the part of the study it doesn't seem they rushed it, they would be very stupid to do so anyways because what country would authorize a vaccine with such easily debunkable results
Obviously the results that get released to the public wouldn't be nearly as detailed as the ones given to health agencies.
It does seem, however, that the 90% efficiency figure is mostly based on results for people under 55, which, great for me, but hopefully the full results have the other age group.
By batong_doicare Go To PostSo the Russian sputnik one sounds more safe and the one I'll go withDo you guys get both? Widespread availability of multiple vaccines seems unlikely for a least a year I would imagine. I want to travel so fuck that into my veins.
More than 500 soccer teams will gather in Arizona over Thanksgiving weekend as virus cases soar
“We’re doing it because other clubs in our area have been doing it for a while, and if we don’t do it, our players will leave for other clubs,” said Anthony Benvenuto, president of the Oceanside Breakers. “That’s the last thing we want. But we also don’t want to put any kid in harm’s way.”I have no words...
It's pretty hilarious, and in no short part due to our incompetent state minister showed in nazi outfit on the page before this. They rushed it so badly that they realized they didnt even have legal footing (and the minister who ordered it, ended up being forced to leave), and then they rushed it and hired cheap eastern european work force, with no real qualifications other than... being cheap, to very badly kill the minks and bury them.
We're truly trying our best to be as stupid as Sweden at this point. Although we still got some way to go, I am sure we can get up there.

Things are going to shit here in the Azores. Back in the end of May we had 145 cases since the start of the pandemic, last week we had 150 cases for the whole week.
I thing by July, my island had a total of 25 cases or something since March, we've 47 cases this week so far.
Everyone I know knows someone who had it in the past 2 weeks.
Doesn't help that we have a new regional government that it's take a lot of time to take over because they had to make a lot of deals to take control of the government, there's 57 seats in the regional assembly and the previous party that had been in control for 24 years got 25 seats, the second placed party got 21 seats but they made an alliance with 2 other parties to get 26 votes and also with other parties to get things through, including a radical right wing party.
The national government choose to close schools until Wednesday as Tuesday is a national holiday and to restrict movement between councils, the regional government as said things will continue as usual for the next few days.

Moderna says new data shows Covid vaccine is more than 94% effective, plans to ask FDA for emergency clearance later Monday
Moderna said it will request emergency clearance from the FDA for its coronavirus vaccine after new data confirms the vaccine is more than 94% effective in preventing Covid-19 and was safe.
Moderna will be the second drugmaker to seek emergency use from the FDA after Pfizer applied for the same authorization on Nov. 20.
The announcement means some Americans could get the first doses of Moderna’s two-dose vaccine within a few weeks.

So all 11 of those cases weren't severe which is good news, my only gripe is the sample size is still too small.
By FortuneFaded Go To Post30,000 is too small?11 is too small, and 11 vs 185 still has a decently high margin of error.
