I really wish politicians would realize these "mandatory requirements" are more likely to backfire than actually help anything.

There is talk of doing the 2 week bubble tourism here but we are finding that travelers coming in are testing positive for the covi. We here are just lucky our economy is not mainly built on tourism so we can persist without it. But fuck all the other small Caribbean countries are kind of fucked.
Germany is once again closing certain areas as in March, with a few exceptions such as schools, kindergartens and normal shops which can remain open with harsher concepts. Hairdressers will be allowed to remain open with existing concepts.
I must say that I am not a fan of the measures in certain areas. In general, it was simply necessary to introduce stronger measures, even if it is not as bad as in some neighbouring countries. However, the figures have risen very sharply.
What surprises me is that schools remain open although there are still no proper concepts. Ventilation as a concept in winter is a bit ridiculous. Especially because you had the whole summer to get something going and enough virologists warned of the second wave.
However, many areas that are now being closed have had a good concept and it worked. Restaurants, for example, are not a big driver of infection as long as the measures have been followed. The same can be said about several other areas.
So it leaves a rather unpleasant aftertaste that some areas are now being punished for the second time, even though they are not a driver of infection.
While the politicians have been quiet and have not prevented parties and travelling, these have contributed a lot to the increased outbreak.
2-4 weeks depending on how the measures work.

There are no radiators in our office at work so we rely on the ac unit to heat the room. Problem is they disconnected it due to covid concerns and now the office is fucking freezing.
By Nonja Go To PostThere are no radiators in our office at work so we rely on the ac unit to heat the room. Problem is they disconnected it due to covid concerns and now the office is fucking freezing.Might wanna suggest your boss to take a look at mobile air filters.
When they had the big outbreak in a local meat processing factory in town, they had some scientists here that took a look at everything and why it spread so well.
They had a huge air filter in order to get a constant amount of fresh air, but the filters within weren't really suited for rona, so they upgraded them and is better now.
Smaller scale would be a mobile unit with the right filters. That way you could at least use the radiators.

Yeah case numbers are bad here. Our silver lining was a really low death rate but that can't be held up if people can't get good care from hospitals.
By Laboured Go To PostLol, like that is a surprise
By Fenderputty Go To PostEpstein's Island is available for parties already? Wild.
Portugal has been breaking records almost daily, today was another grim day with 4626 new cases and 40 deaths. Reminder that before October, the day with more cases was 1502. We are now having 3 times that daily and specialists are predicting 7k daily in November, up to 20k daily in December.
Hospitals are starting to get overwhelmed, things are not looking good at all.
I've always been happy to live on a island but even more so now. We've got this covered, we have daily cases but 90% are from people arriving from other places, there's only a few cases of local transmission and those are always quickly handled and isolated.

Covid spreading faster in England than 'worst-case scenario', documents show
Scientists crunching the numbers estimated that, by mid-October, there were between 43,000 and 74,000 people being infected with coronavirus every day in England
Their report said: "This is significantly above the profile of the reasonable worst-case scenario, where the number of daily infections in England remained between 12,000-13,000 throughout October."
