At any given moment, 75 percent of the air you breathe in a subway car is recycled. The rest is pulled in from the outside.
Still, the subway’s so-called air exchange rate — or how often recirculated air is completely replaced with fresh air — helps minimize the risk of coronavirus transmission for riders. The recycled air on subway cars is replaced on average at least 18 times an hour, far higher than the recommended exchange rate for offices, which is six to eight times an hour, or classrooms, which is three to four times an hour.https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/08/10/nyregion/nyc-subway-coronavirus.html
Even with a relatively high exchange rate, however, viral particles that slip past the subway system’s filters could — based on ventilation patterns — circulate at least three times in the car over the course of several minutes. For example, if someone in a car sneezes, riders could be exposed to viral particles in the air that don’t get filtered out more than once, underscoring the importance of wearing masks.
😬 I still won't ride it
By reilo Go To PostIs it true that the shortest development cycle for a vaccine was 4 years to develop one for Mumps? The Zika virus had a vaccine developed in 7 months but by the time it was ready for large scale testing the outbreak had dissipated.

Shit is crazy here right now. Rentals are completely filled and people are even doing AirBnB while house hunting. Houses are selling for above appraisal with cash.
We'll see how sustainable this is. It's all fun and games until this weird economy blows up and all these people getting paid for six figures doing 10 hours of real work a week are out of a job.

That's Portland prices lol
At the same time, Bend is where rich Republicans from Portland go to retire. It's no wonder you have a Porsche dealership in a small town like that.

A lot of the lots that get developed lately just doing that awful shit where they put as much house on the lot as possible versus a smaller bungalow with an actual back yard to it.

q. I continue to wonder about our sanity."Not wearing the mask was fine. Wearing a mask got me COVID-19".
r. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) tested positive for COVID-19 last week. He has been publicly anti-mask and said he has worn one occasionally in recent weeks before testing positive. On Tuesday, he and Attorney General William Barr were seen walking together, maskless. Asked about testing positive, Gohmert said: “I can’t help but wonder if by keeping a mask on and keeping it in place that if I might have put some germs, some of the virus, on the mask and breathed it in. I don’t know. But I got it.”
s. Politico reported that an employee of one member of the House of Representatives said in that congress person’s offices, “While mask use isn’t banned, it’s also not encouraged, and has been derided on several occasions by the [chief of staff] and the [House] member.”

Hundreds gather at Portland waterfront, without masks, to see controversial worship leader
PORTLAND, Ore. — Hundreds of people gathered along Portland’s waterfront Saturday evening in defiance of state orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19.Sigh.
They came to see Sean Feucht, a controversial worship leader and political activist who has held similar crowded outdoor services on the beaches in California in defiance of coronavirus restrictions there. Organizers dubbed the event in Portland as “Riots to Revival,” and hoped to flip the script by bringing worship, prayer and acts of kindness to the city.
Pictures and videos taken by KGW’s Kyle Iboshi show the vast majority of the crowd was not wearing masks or social distancing. Many attendees Iboshi spoke with were from out of town, including Longview and Central Oregon.

A Phase 3 clinical trial designed to evaluate if an investigational vaccine can prevent symptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults has begun. The vaccine, known as mRNA-1273, was co-developed by the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based biotechnology company Moderna, Inc., and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. The trial, which will be conducted at U.S. clinical research sites, is expected to enroll approximately 30,000 adult volunteers who do not have COVID-19.

It's pretty hard to compare time frames between this vaccine and past ones. Not only is the Moderna vaccine a totally new type of vaccine, it's phase 3 is very large (somewhere in the 300-3000 is the usual) and COVID is so widespread that you will see its results much faster. I'm not sure what the minimum amount of time required would be to properly observe longer term side effects, i'm sure that varies quite a bit in the opinion of scientists/doctors. The original "this would be a modern miracle" time frame was 12-18 months and now its looking like the end of the year so take that how you will...
The time frame that Russia is rolling with on their more traditional vaccine might be insane.

By Kabro Go To PostAstraZaneca seems to be in the lead. Started p3 trial in mid July and reported to have results by September.Remember that the different vaccines will probably have differing effectiveness. A vaccine that is ~75% effective will greatly cut down community spread over one that is ~50% and the potentially increased effectiveness of an mRNA vaccine (Moderna and Pfizer's) is one of the big appeals of it

About 3 months. They're enrolling volunteers throughout the entire phase until they hit 30K. But only 15K get the actual vaccine, the others get a placebo. I think in total by Dec/Jan, 300K people will have participated in Phase 3 (including placebos) among all brands in testing phases.
