it'd be fucked up no matter which admin did it, and it'd also be worth it if it works
this whole i'm okay with it if its my favorite team thing doesn't really matter imo. which is your priority? an early chance at a vaccine or confidence in the whole of america getting on the same page between the local, state, and federal levels in order to secure our public hebwhwhahalmao

To be clear, I would have been felt better with either of the bushes making the call.
By Fenderputty Go To PostYou know I think there’s some merit to this decision but also merit to the idea that this isn’t the admin to make that decision based on safety rather than electability.
Part of me still wants to go first. My kids are getting REALLY RESTLESS lol.
Was reading in Forbes the other day that if 300,000 American people are already volunteering to be part of the ongoing Phase 3 trials...then why not allow others to participate as well and authorize emergency use of Phase 3 vaccines for them? The risks are thus far non-existent from what we know of the thousands of Phase 1 and 2 participants. And it could allow a certain chunk of the work force to get back out there and work.
I also do see the merit behind the idea, and the vaccines themselves are not utilizing any crazy tech. They're pretty simple vaccines once you look at them and research the science behind them. Not saying I agree with it, but I do understand the rationale. But once the vaccine is approved, I will be getting it asap for sure.
Idk why so many people are so scared of vaccinations these days. It really feels like anti-vaxxers have, to a degree, penetrated the minds of non-skeptics.
its a dangerous call no matter who makes it. how warm and fuzzy it makes you feel doesn't really make much of a difference
shouldn't matter who's on the mic
also, there's new #covidfacts every over week. how are we gauging long term effects when there's always some new info coming out?

By Pennywise Go To Postnot at all shocked. feel there's gonna be a lot more stories like this coming out :/
Think its because you want to be able to actually track the results of Phase 3 vaccines just in case, which is very hard if there's a lot of people using them.
By DY_nasty Go To Postshouldn't matter who's on the micAye. Numbers are still shocking. Considering they're pretty much having a second wave in effect...

For real, though, my high school was like 97% white, no lie. And redneck as hell. So many dudes rocking those ball caps with fish hooks.

They're doing clinical trials on minorities who aren't volunteers? I've haven't heard of this. Source?

there's more than a few chapters in there about black and brown, disabled, imprisoned, or otherwise impoverished getting a first go...
I'm not anti vax, but you can't hype a rushed mRNA vaccine on the basis that it hasn't fucked up yet either 😂

I'm talking about the present and COVID vaccine trials, not talking about history.
By AlphaSnacks Go To PostI'm talking about the present and COVID vaccine trials, not talking about history.when do historical patterns stop? Once white people pick and choose when it doesn't matter? lol https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52151722
^This wasn't even all that long ago and we're already seeing the time old tradition of minority communities being left to feel the worst of a public health crisis then being at the top of the list to see the most fresh out the box treatments. With the way inmates are deliberately left to stew as well, they'll be high on the list too. And anyone who was around to see the AIDS crisis damn sure ain't trying to hear this song and dance again.
Yal go right ahead tho. Can't even get a global consensus on which strain is doing what but trying to wave around go door to door already
Who knows whats happening to Uyghurs and Russia so tight lipped I don't even know who they plan to turn into guinea pigs yet, probably lgbt folks though.

Once again, I'm talking about present COVID vaccines being tested on people unwillingly. That's what I thought your post was about.
This link showed me somebody who made a dumb ass statement about getting people in Africa vaccinated with BCG - which, is an old and proven vaccine, might I add. Still, you're kind of talking about a different topic than I am here and we're going around in circles
If the topic is unethical medical practices being historically normalized whenever there isn't a war to provide a get out of jail free card, then I'm pretty the topic is the same. Its not a rare occasion, its part of the process. Now, globally, the corrective action and oversight meant to handle that is being pushed back to... public reception?
Again, good luck.
A product just barely good enough to run through an unregulated process is already being misrepresented as a palatable solution. It'd be different if the pharmaceutical industry wasn't regularly tripping over itself while counting money. Theranos was just a few years too soon apparently.

I'm not disagreeing with a lot of what you are saying but at the end of the day we really do need an effective vaccine and i don't blame people who put hope into it.
By Daz Go To PostWhilst I'm sure the Twitter gotcha was made in good faith, Greater Manchester is 84% white, which means that 80% of new cases being among the white population suggests they are proportionally less likely to be passing infections

Wait ... we may not get college football!?!?
EVERYONE PLEASE UNDERSTAND MASKS ARE A PRIOROTY
Let them die. They are beyond saving. States that believe in science, compassion, and common sense should have travel bans preventing people from plague states coming in.
Honestly if places and people really wanna put themselves in this kind of risk what the fuck can any of us do but watch.
By diehard Go To Postrunning tally of States that fit that bill:I'm in Miami. It seems contradictory but I say that as a word of warning. Protect eachother. Save yourselves before you become this disaster. Finding out there's a market here for false negative tests has ripped the last shred of hope I had in people here.

By blackace Go To Postphew the hottest of takes… It's not a good take, but boy it is hotIt's a shitty thing to say, I know. I do the best I can to protect my elderly parents and myself. If they get it they're dead because of their age and health issues. If I get it I'll probably end up hospitalized because of my health issues. Every time I go out for errands (once a week) I see/experience something shocking. It feels hopeless because of how awful people act in this city. It feels like a battle for survival. Not even when I lived in some rough countries and saw terrible things there as a child and teen did I feel this kind of despair.
In the same boat almost exactly, but you think the stance let them die is going to make conditions better?
Fuck Tate Reeves. This man hasn't done shit that he's needed to, for the majority of this whole damn time. I get agitated, every fucking time I see him on the news, not saying shit of merit. I'm at the point, where it's fuck the person doing the sign language too. Mf'er gets up there looking like a victim from the house of wax, just signing this dumb shit away. MS so broke they can't even give that man AC.
Schools have started opening up, to obvious results, and he can't help but cosplay and mimic Trump. What's to be expected from this state tho? Shit thrives off of racism, poor people seeing even poorer people suffer, and watching Jackson and Alcorn's bands face off.
Like I said, shit's different here.
