i played a bit last night. i'm currently in the sunken valley.

the boss with the gun is so annoying. he isn't hard, but i feel like i'm doing very little (posture) damage, and i eventually get caught by his bullets.

Remember the old hag praying near the bridge right before Ashina Castle? She's pointing towards the temple

(IIRC, its been too long)

you went the harder route but just as well, as now you'll get an extra boss later on ;)

I fucking loved that level, it was insanely tense from beginning to end! Yeah, she's annoying...there's a trick, however, as per usual. I'll let you figure it out by yourself!
