Too fucking bad that Birds of Prey was a terrible movie. It just showed premiered on HBO last night. I knew it was a smart decision to not give it a second chance before Lovecraft Country, which was a GREAT premiere episode.
Been rewatching Breaking Bad with the wife, who's never seen it; we just finished season 3. It's kind of shocking rewatching and seeing just how justified Skylar was in her behaviour towards Walt. I never had any issue with the character when I first watched it, but I also don't think I ever particularly emphasized with her position. I've got to wonder how much of the backlash to the character just came from young people who'd never been in a serious relationship and had no idea what they were like. It's so easy now for me to see Walt's awful communication, his obvious secrecy and general dismissiveness of his family's concerns; if I acted even half as bad as Walt did, I know my wife would flip.
Also, Fly really is the GOAT episode of TV. I reckon that's it's the peak of the series, and it only gets downhill from then on. Perhaps my opinion of seasons 4 & 5 will change once I see them again, but I always remember thinking they got a little bit silly, overindulgent and just didn't measure up to the early seasons, a view that's already been partially confirmed watching the last few episodes of season 3 contort themselves to get their dramatic ending.

By domino Go To Postlord Jurnee Smolett is fine as frog hairYep I'm in. Was getting a bit bored but the last 1/3 got me.
Lovecraft Country first ep is pretty good so far
I really wanted to like the Magicians and its got its moments - but every single character is a dick.

But from there on it is spectacular.

I never cared for Jesse at any point. Whiny little junkie bitch.

Coupled with the deification of Walt for all the worst reasons.

I rewatched it a couple of years ago, it's still incredible, but it reads so differently with no gaps between episodes/seasons, really compresses the timeline
People hate women on TV for doing the exact same things they lionize men for. It's been observed and documented
That's how it be

Lovecraft Country was gud and fun, particularly in the final third. Sounds like they're not going to hold back on the wild shit in the remaining 9 eps., which is what I wanted to hear.
Yeah I was sold from the dream sequence and him reading princess of mars.
Definitely looks like it's gonna go places.

I still have not seen one episode of breaking bad and I’m fairly content with that. Same goes for Sapranos lol.

Yes ... to both.
Neither seemed interesting to me for some reason though, and now I’m just like ehh I’ve already missed the social interest part of watching those series.
Sopranos actually made a huge comeback on social after HBO made it free. Been one of the highlights for me seeing everyone drop references

Breaking Bad is kind of like GoT for me. For as popular as they were airing, it almost feels like it never happened now.
Think Sopranos is a must tbh. Everyone in that show is so good at their roles. And it even meta addresses a lot of social issues. One of the few series where the racism, sexism, homophobia etc is part of the characters and it's just another facet of their bullshit not particularly malicious for arbitrary reasons.
Also all the people throughout the 2000s who didn't pick up on any of that and thought they were being portrayed as badasses. Same as Walter White

Stop trying to remake this and let it be forever Immortal.
Nothing has reached it and its been well over a decade.

Netflix did a lot to bring people in on Breaking Bad too. It wasn't actually a hit right out of the gate for AMC.
But anyone who has the means and chooses not to watch the Sopranos - you ain't black.

Eh, sopranos goes a lil too hard with the treatment of black people. Makes all the n words in Tarantino movies trivial.
No real interest in watching it.

Said it before but Sopranos left me dead cold, as does everything that uses Italian mob shite as a frame work. Just annoys and bores me in equal measure.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostForgot how good S5 of Angel was. Just watched the puppet episode and it's hilarious.Love Angel but so much of the middle of it is such a slog to get through. All the baby shit, all the Darla shit...then you hit s4 and everyones a hardened tired badass, shit starts getting cool and dark again. Then s5 hits and its pretty much home run all the way through. Great final shot for a tv series.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostForgot how good S5 of Angel was. Just watched the puppet episode and it's hilarious.Angel is so great - I do a yearly re-watch and S5 is truly amazing, not a single episode is wasted and the Wolfram Hart setting was rich with potential for so much more.
Overall, it felt so much more grown-up and mature than Buffy. I think being set in LA helped - whereas Sunnydale felt like a fictitious set.
Missed Lilah though.
Couple of shows I'm watching for the first time.
Buffy - on S3 now. Really enjoying it without thinking it's transcendent ever. Xander is very annoying. Cordelia GOAT.
Stath Lets Flats - good stuff. Great title sequence. Both Demetrious are very funny.
What We Do in the Shadows - great stuff (again, dat Demetriou). Colin Robinson is a work of art.
Catastrophe - again, very funny. Almost painful to watch sitting next to my gf, whew
