I forgot how good Hannibal is. Love this show
By Punished* Go To PostStarted rewatching Hannibal. What a show that was.
Near the end of S2. Really is a great drama but a lot of (campy?) humour too. Two amusing highlights:
1) Jeremy Davies doing an impression of Adam Sandler's Waterboy (ok this isn't intentional)
2) Mads' breathless delivery of "Killing must feel good to God. He does it all the time, and are we not created in God's image?"
Hannibal is a perfect example of a show that was too good for network television and too smart for it find an audience in the US.
If only NBC's Peacock was around back then. Maybe the third season wouldn't have been a mess and had such a terrible conclusion.

.
Yeah, it's legit.
It also has my number 1 most hated sci-fi "joke" that all fucking sci fi comedies need to have for some fucking reason. I hate it so much.

it was bang average animated show, hopefully the show improves
i already see the "captains and starfleet are actually bad" thing coming so i guess we cant really ever be free of star trek picard or discovery's cynicism

Captains being dodgy and Admirals being the true bad guys has been a Star Trek thing forever. The bad part is that they have a show called Lower Decks and can't just let it be about that, everyone's gotta be a super genius secret captain material saving the universe at each turn.
think my biggest issue is how bang generic it was, 1st episode and we already had the alien zombies
Although I've been watching TNG and it doesn't get off from reusing plots either

Ehh. Didn't really care about the standard plot contrivances. The idea is to point out all the horrific shit that usually happens to the whole crew during a single "episode" (like reverting into cavemen, frogs, etc.) and then just zip zops back to the status quo by the end. That commander guy would be dead, but nope, Bones/Crusher/Bashir/EMH figures it out with an asspull and everyone's fine. This was just the quickest low concept way to do that without stepping on the rest of the show's themes
Artstyle doesn't bother me at all either, compositing and effects look great. It's a show with a budget. I like the characters already and I like how McMahan's deconstructing the tropes and lore from the inside. The "just pointing a phaser at someone breaks 76 regulations" stuff is so good. Troi started in a jumpsuit and ENDED UP...
So good
Since it's all canon, it's a great way to answer long-standing questions about the ST universe that never get addressed in the serious shows

How come Amazon do their 4K UHD content separately from their HD content, makes it tough to search for UHD content just on Amazon prime. Very frustrating.

Debicki was born in Paris to a Polish father and an Australian mother of Irish descent.[2][3][4][5] Her parents were both ballet dancers.[6] When she was five, the family moved to Glen Waverley in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.[3][7] The eldest of three children, she has a younger sister and a brother.[8]
Debicki became interested in ballet at an early age and trained as a dancer until deciding to switch to theatre.[9][10] A student at Huntingtower School in eastern Melbourne, she achieved two perfect study scores in Drama and English and was the school's dux when she graduated in 2007.[11] In 2010, she completed a degree in drama at the University of Melbourne's Victorian College of the Arts.[2][9] In August 2009, she was the recipient of a Richard Pratt Bursary for outstanding acting students in their second year of training.[12]
