At work our datacenter has about 13 minutes of battery run-time and a generator will automatically start when the power kicks off. One time the compressors weren't connected to the generator and after about an hour the room got up to 124 degrees F, It wasn't fun.

This 2-3 working days per week isn't going to cut it for much longer I feel.
Especially as when I do work it's just a shit load of stuff loaded on me and we even got an extra dev in.
I'm 😤 right now.

Not sure about your design, but only some systems by code need to be on the generator. So like the fire pump load has to be on gen power for obvious reasons, but office HvAC probably isn’t. The building designer would need to size the generator and connect the HVAC to account for Tbis. Which means $$$

We have more early warning systems now but when i started getting alert about servers overheating it was quite disconcerting.

Wow yeah I figured it was office HVAC because who would for get about cooling servers? Lol keep the engine running but cut off the radiator.

It really is more work being broke
I'm just kinda taken back by it all still 😂 the only reason I am the way I am financially is because I thought having more shit would be a bigger hassle

So I'm getting paid to do some extra work this summer in developing a better online course. I just got this brief
" 3) TONE: We will be adopting a "first-person" tone from the lecture content text. Write from my perspective, as if you were instructor. We will also be adopting a semi-brash snarky (almost internet "troll") tone, as to capture attention and provide shock value."
Oh dear lord.

Not looking good for my furloughed assistant - I really think they are going to make her redundant.
Fucking mess, apparently, because we are 'coping' without furloughed staff they are going to take them out back - its fucked up, the rest of us and these poor people are paying for picking up the slack.
Imagine using your staff's competence and dedication as a rod to beat them with.

Need to keep an eye out - no way I'll last the rest of the year under the current workload.
The Chairman said some shit to me yesterday that lowkey triggered me - like we're meant to be grateful the company is still profitable is some kind of excuse.

Been moved out for 3 months? 2 months? now. Time kind of flies in the post-Rona world. But I think more than anything, it's been surprising how much less effort is involved than I would have originally thought. Definitely have had to spend more money but in terms of maintenance, everyone kind of stays in their room and takes care of their room.
It's definitely made me more active about cleaning things and cooking though. I'm not burning money, but I'm definitely spending a fair bit more money than when I lived with my parents. I definitely eat out too much now. My dad kind of wants me to come back when the lease is up because he does a lot of home projects and my brother who lifts with them couldn't lift a trash bag much less a table. It's especially concerning for me when I've been seeing a lot of friends in my age groups losing their parents recently. My dad's in his 60s but stays healthy and active, but he's still in his 60s. But every time I drop by their place I can't get over just how much clutter there is. And somehow my bathroom has gotten much messier with just my brother using it instead of us sharing.
It would be nice to skip rent for a couple months and pay off my car before moving again though.

By Xpike Go To Postare the only economic systems humanity will ever be capable of are capitalism and communismEvery economic system that has been or will be made will eventually sit somewhere on the capitalism-socialism scale. I guess you can talk about a post-scarcity economy that doesn't require either a individual or a group to own anything and also doesn't require labor but nobody owning anything is essentially everyone owning everything ... and its back to a form of socialism .. kind of (or maybe it's just "no economy").
Actual economic people could chime in though

I believe you’re describing late stage anarcho-communism? Marx figured socialism was the stop gap for when we hit a semi post scarcity / post scarcity society and that eventually we would hit communism or start trek. Socialism is a transitional phase when labor demand falls
There could be other mixtures though right? I believe there some thought on market based socialism. Basically Another mixing of the two systems above and beyond democratic socialism. The public owns the enterprise, but business and allocation of resources is still market based.
