If you know another language you might pick it up faster. But Japanese is a tough language because it's hard to look up words in the dictionary because kanji is a bitch and of course sns slang vs proper Japanese are two different beast.
Not saying it's not worth a try, just I'd temper my expectations

In general if you're just reading and writing a language its going to be easier than actually speaking it, even for character based languages like Japanese. I can comfortably read Chinese books or translate text but can still barely have a conversation with my wife
