It’s insane that we’re looking at potentially “Greatest PL team ever” status. We aren’t that sexy of a team in terms of our players. Perhaps the biggest reason we are able to do this is because of our back line being so amazing. But there is something special about the return of the world class center back, and perfect ball delivery from Robertson and Trent.
We’re absent a 30+ goal scorer like Suarez. The load is being shared all over the team, it’s incredible.

Speaking of greatest teams, which teams would you consider the teams of the decade?
Top 3 for me would have to be:
1. Barcelona 2010-2012
2. Barcelona 2014-2015
3. City 2017-2019
P.S.
The prior decade
1. Barcelona 2008-2009
2. Arsenal 2004
3. Milan 2003-2007

Think Jupp’s Bayern and Pep’s Bayern were both fantastic tbh, irregardless of Pep not winning CL.
Mou’s title winning Madrid side were great to watch as well.
Bias talking, but Chelsea 2005 was up there in that decade. I don't think we've reached that level since, even with our subsequent title wins.
By Laboured Go To PostMartins pls confirm.Who the fuck knows? I just read an article from the English press saying that Bruno Fernandes's goal celebration yesterday seemed to indicate that he wasn't affected by the transfer talk as he covered his ears with his hands to show that he doesn't hear the transfer rumours and the blew a kiss as to show he loves Sporting...
That's his standard celebration, it's something his daughter does at home with him and he has been doing it for more than a year to dedicate his goals to her.

By Wahabipapangus Go To Postoh yeah i seeWe all have bad takes and I certainly have plenty of them. Like my Mason Mount opinion from August.
if you want to go that far back, about just thinking a player would be good (i mean, we have all given some real shit takes there) i have bad news about a markovic vs salah post, that we stumbled upon trying to figure out the origins when Bud managed to say Savage Gordon instead of Savage Garden for the first time. 💀
But I also still think Pogba is a better footballer than Wijnaldum, and that this will be shown as soon as he leaves United again.
My opinion of both Pepe and Fernandes as transfer stories was absolutely correct. When I talked about both I wasn't referring to their abilities, but merely that they were stories cooked up by clubs and agents looking to make big money for the French and Portuguese leagues respectively. It's only later that we found out Pepe was actually much worse than we ever thought. Fernandes could well be very good, from what I saw against the national team he is quite handy.
The big Pepe story specifically was that he was never wanted by the clubs the media said he was. And I cared specifically because Liverpool were linked on a daily basis, which was a complete fabrication. Arsenal wanted Zaha, couldn't afford him, and Lille cannily swooped to agree a structured payment plan and get their full asking price for a player that very much isn't worth anywhere near that figure. Good business for them.
And Fernandes was a similar deal. Clubs and agents desperate to profit on him by selling him for a huge sum to a Premier League team. The BBC reported in August that United did not want him: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49230085
There are "transfer lists" in football and clubs are hugely aware of the players on the international market who are available. Despite stories in the press being nonsense, that doesn't stop clubs desperate for players with little time to agree deals going after available players as a break glass option. Arsenal needing a wide player with not much cash available caused that to happen. Considering their denials in the summer it seems United's midfield injuries and continual issues with perennially underwhelming Paul Pogba have also caused this to happen.
That's how the transfer window works.

2016/17 Madrid A/B teams, those last minute wins in the league were epic.
That'll forever be my favorite season. We were unstoppable, and in the CL we just dismantled every top team like it was nothing. Insane team.

what makes them team of the decade material exactly
a few were only good domestically, if so.......8/9 consecutive titles out of 10 this decade.
Ronaldo's Madrid over the last seasons for me.

As for the best team of last decade, for me Barca in the 14/15 season.
And well for Ajax obviously last season. We never came closer to a treble in recent history. The last time we did something similar was 96. Was a bit too young for that. Last time I can actually remember we reached quite deep into Europe was 2002/2003 with the likes of Zlatan, Van der Vaart, Sneijder, Trabelsi and Chivu. Went out against Milan that season, a close call.

I still believe the Barcelona side that lost to Inter would have beaten Luis Enriques side, just that Neymar exists..so probably not then. Ajax and Barcelona robbed us of a wonderful final, instead we got what ever that was.
By Flutter Go To Postblame the volcanoIndeed. Add an offside goal or two, some disallowed goals here and there and we got ourselves an excuse.

By Arnie Go To PostBruno Fernandes and Nicolas Pepe aren’t actually targets for anyone. They’re the new William Carvalho or Jean Micheal-Seri.
possibly manchester united and arsenal vs betis and fulham btw, in case people forgot where the two latter players ended up.
Zidane figured if we can't score, then don't concede as much. Win, win.
Still salty we let Barca get away in the Clasico.

ok zoomer
Just read Neverton have failed to produce their financials ahead of their AGM. Rumours of them sliding perilously close to FFP.
What does FFP mean to clubs who have no hope of qualifying for European competition anyway? Can a ban be suspended until the club finishes in a position where they'd normally qualify?
