By Laboured Go To PostThey're called something like vertical progressions and almost certainly are a stat used by major stat companies and clubs.Stefan Reinartz came up with the 'packing' stat, for how many players are taken out of the game by a pass.
By Laboured Go To PostHoo boy. What international institutions can the PL take a case to after Brexit?
By Laboured Go To PostPoor Southarampton.
I don't think he's a very good player. For the price they'd charge us, there must be better options out there.

By n8 dogg Go To PostWhen they do their scouting, they look at metrics like xG and shot-assists.
Furthermore, there was a fair bit written about how Liverpool and Southampton are the only two PL clubs who use intense data metrics when scouting potential managers as well.
Using data to assist in scouting and performance analysis is a no-brainer. I do understand that sometimes the numbers belie the visual evidence, but if the numbers aren't reflecting what you're seeing, it's probably because you just aren't getting the important numbers. To a layman, it might seem overly stupid, but the real stats guys know what to look for and how to use it.
Of course, it's all pointless if your manager is an egomaniac who thinks he can't possibly have anything to learn from a nerd who gets his tan from an LCD screen. Klopp is great in that respect, he's totally willing to give anyone time who wants to help improve the club.

Fans also tend to look at relatively un-useful stats in isolation (e.g. possession, shots on target, passes completed) which tell a tiny piece of the story. Proper analytics firms pull in loads of data and intelligently filter, combine and visualise it. Most fans don't even get to see that stuff because it's pretty expensive and confidential.

Loan strikers we've been linked with so far: Slimani, Piatek, Ighalo and Rondon. Not really doing much for me tbh.

Empty house is attacked by supposed fans, with camera crew at the ready.
Who has the exclusive on this?
The Sun.
Just saying.

I work in data science and analytics and the sheer amount of data and info that goes into our calculations and models are nuts. Definitely similar when it comes to football scouting and analytics.

Liverpool's data metrics failed them spectacularly for years until now/Klopp. It was a meme at one point

No that was the "Transfer Committee" which I think still technically exists. They did re-structure things though and Michael Edwards, one of the main analytics guys in the Transfer Comimittee, became the Sporting Director and they've done very well ever since.
Yeah the meme was that the metrics guys kept making decent signings and Rodgers kept sending them to the stands so he could play Benteke.
We're trying to sign that young lad who left Liverpool for Fiorentina last summer (Bobby Duncan?). Which means either Grigg or McNulty are #doingone. Wish it was Wyke.

Has Pele been sighted today? I need his expert opinion on Sao Paolo winger Antony. Things are getting real it seems.
Yeah, I get why people say Sex Education season 2 is way more drama but it's.... relatable, at least? Still like it, some really great moments.

Pelé you are our man on the ground in Brazil. But so far my scouting reports haven’t been great m8. What are we going to do about it?

Pele, how's your analytics department going, curve data, competition etc?
Do you need to hire someone?

I have this feeling that Bruno will be a massive flop at United. He looks too lightweight for the prem.

I think at the very least it’ll take him a while to settle, he does look like he’ll get absolutely dominated physically in midfield in the prem
