Living comfortably as a single person I would assume means rent, car, utilities, food, hobbies, vacation covered. I would put the threshold at 30k MXN a month for that. That's about 1.5k USD, but you can go ahead and tighten the belt to 1k USD if you must (public transport and tuna salad are fine) so that's 75 months, so about 6 years in my corner of the third world. Maybe with some wise investment you can probably stretch that a bit more. I don't just see a "rest of my life" scenario.
