My ballot this year had president, senate, house of representatives and then local-level elections like school board. In theory, people can vote split ticket, Trump for president and then a Democrat for house or senate, but it doesn't happen too often.

the blue wave stuff was hyped to hell. the result was internal rifts that the democrats broadcast proudly at every opportunity and a weak plan to push for the middle again not even 2 years later like its what helped them win those seats. its the definition of hustling backwards
