Find it absolutely bizarre how old the US' prominent politicians have been in the run up to this election in particular, especially given how long the term of office is. Trump, Warren, Biden and Sanders range from 71 to 78 years old.
Surely at some point you just don't have the energy to dedicate the necessary hours to the job.
Probably because they're the only ones old enough to have gotten to the top before the ladders flew back up
Boomers giving up their power when they're cold and dead in the ground. And even then, it'll just transfer to their direct progeny. Our aristocracies are secure. Don't expect the average age for top leaders to fall below 60 anytime soon

I just kind of assumed Harris was a charisma vacuum and pure power-seeker, but I had no idea she actually just slept her way there:

Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker.
I feel like these attacks against Kamala could have opposite effects the right wants. If they’re smart they just hammer her record and not go full identity politics

They need to fuel their base too. It gets the people going.

Their relationship was known to the ethics committee and was terminated long before Harris had any sort of national clout, or tangible political power. It's not out of the ordinary in politics at all, and certainly men aren't held to the same impossible standard of being romantically associated with powerful people at any point in their career.
You are more than free to try and validate the bonafides of a relationship that occured 26 years ago to be the ultimate reason she became DA, then AG, then Senator, then VP nominee. But understandably, people are going to call you goofy for it.

There's plenty to shit on Kamala as a politician for that don't need to cross into misogynistic territory

By DY_nasty Go To PostI think the worst defensive logic in all this is "the right is attacking her, so she must be good"
Agreed, but it’s a reaction to the attacks all the same. Especially when the attacks aren’t aimed at anything substantive. l said so earlier. If they want to continue to seed division on the left, they should stick to substance that divides us. Keep pointing out her record as AG or a prosecutor.
An example of this would be the liberal who slut shames Melania. I can’t stand her, but I’ll call the liberal out because the attack is uncalled for.

They don't need to sew division on the left. That's the democrats natural state.

Then what’s the point of the identity politics attack? Why shift from “scary brown lady Trojan horse” to “she’s not even black!”
Stick to the below 🤷♂️
By Fenderputty Go To PostAn example of this would be the liberal who slut shames Melania. I can’t stand her, but I’ll call the liberal out because the attack is uncalled for.Another example of the disconnect in approaches. You can't run someone who wants to give validity to Biden's accusers and goes full performance art on Kavanaugh then act like you have the moral high ground. At least not someone who does it as a transparently as this. Those little bits of self checked hypocrisy erode the voting base more than it ever pulls from the middle. This reliance on consistent voters isn't gonna last forever.
By Fenderputty Go To PostThen what’s the point of the identity politics attack? Why shift from “scary brown lady Trojan horse” to “she’s not even black!”Because they feed their own base with it and being a broken clock at the right time is good enough for independents and the dissuaded as we've already seen. Meanwhile, the democrats can't even give a straight answer on who their base is anymore.
Stick to the below 🤷♂️

[So Trump decided to supplement unemployment benefits by executive fiat, allegedly providing an additional $400 per week. The administration said it would take $44 billion from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, earmarked for natural disasters, to fund a new $300 weekly payment per worker. But states would get the money only if they kicked in $100 for each worker from their own coffers, on top of whatever benefits they had already been distributing.
States would also have to build an information technology system from scratch to administer this $400, because they cannot legally use their existing unemployment insurance infrastructure to pay out benefits that haven’t been authorized by Congress.
