By Fenderputty Go To PostI acknowledged that from FP perspective out of the gate lolI'm just reiterating for emphasis. I'm not solely focused on FP in any Bush/Trump comparison. Everything from climate (kyoto, clear skies), to economy (lol), to education (nclb + colleges running rampant), to housing - Bush was objectively worse about to the point where we're still paying for it. And he didn't have to deal with a global full stop or coordinated energy crisis either. The one thing Trump has going for him that's making it incredibly hard for the well off left is that he's just as much of a corporatist as they need him to be.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostI see it like this: legislation is apparently flimsy. You can talk someone into believing that a good thing is bad for them. Judges though? I'm sure there are a lot of people that are more than happy to concede a bill or two if the courts are all stacked. I mean, we're all praying that RBG doesn't die before Biden's potential victory. In that respect, for a large part of the party, they lost in the best possible way.And a number of these same people want Kamala on the SC lol
Any time Trump has the chance to go full GOP, he drops it. Sessions said he wasn't racist enough. John Bolton said he wasn't corrupt enough. The only people consistently giving him shit were the Pharma lobbies - but they been smacking their lips ever since Right to Try and Warp Speed got going.
He's the most convenient president working with the most complacent congress/state leaders of all time. Creates an interesting display, for sure, but like.... its like comparing vh1 reality tv to a true hollywood story

You’re wrong about climate (it’s at least very arguable), possibly the economy (a lot of the banking deregulation that hurt Bush was from Clinton), Ben Carson re-segregating suburbs says hi!!!
That’s why I bring up FP. It’s the one area that’s actually better than when under a neocon.
Early in in this exchange I pondered “Maybe the GOP of old was more effectual than they currently are as a blunt tool” and I think I agree with that, mostly. Still gaming a hard time imagining bush trying to torpedoe the USPS heading into an election tho lol
It's...different down here, and I'm not even kidding. As much as I'll rail on MD/DC with DY, I'll gladly take it over the fuckery that I've witnessed in this gawd awful state.

Convenience is a factor in a lot of this. Republicans are not the sole beneficiaries to Trump being in office.

Also, while the USPS stuff is definitely a thing. States have made it clear they don't give a fuck about protecting or modernizing election security across the board.
And I don't think that the FP stuff works in a bubble at all either. Look at it like this, because of Bush we don't just have the neverending Middle East conundrum we have today, but we have the patriot act along with all that brought with it (such as the 'questionable' federal LE participation in some areas now lol) and an entire world basically dealing with what is essentially modern terrorism. That's gigantic. Bush also cleared the way for China to become the superpower that it is. For the record, I don't think that where we're currently at is good - just that its better where it matters. If South/Central America becomes a new battlefield, then domestically we're gonna hold that too. It always comes back to us. The world is too small to believe otherwise.

“A very substantial portion of that price is going to have to come into the Treasury of the United States,” Trump said of the potential TikTok sale. “The United States should be reimbursed or paid because without the United States they don’t have anything." The president added: “It’s a little bit like the landlord tenant. Without a lease, the tenant has nothing. So they pay what’s called key money or they pay something.”This guy

My parents recently relocated to North Myrtle on a permanent basis, so I've been checking in. Looks like the worst of it passed them by and hit Fender's boy Jim Cantore at Wrightsville Beach.
McConnell's network of political connections and access to funding makes it almost impossible to beat him. The man is laser focused on obtaining more connections and influence since his earliest political days. It's impressive in a perverse way to see how well he wields the machinations of political power.
