By DY_nasty Go To PostIt feels anecdotal… but still I'm kinda wondering why so much of that is attached directly to Bernie. I get the short term memory stuff put on by how media works with this stuff, but the idea's not exactly directly tied to Bernie. He's just the most recent person to stand on it. Again, Warren was out front on things when this cycle started anyways.I think it's because Bernie is the most prominent figure in the presidential race out in front of and pushing for it -- and being runner-up matters? Nobody is talking about Warren right now. If anything, her running on M4A tanked her, but Bernie's support was teflon despite it.
So take Bernie out of it - and its not like the problem goes away.
I just don't see the all or nothing as anything more than an indicator that the DNC itself won't endorse a platform beyond where Obamacare started.
I suppose the reason I am pointing this at Bernie's camp is because a) you don't hear this type of shit from Warren supporters and b) he's the only one actively gunning to add his stamp to the DNC platform and c) Bernie supporters have shown zero to make me believe they are malleable or pragmatic.
By Xpike Go To Postat this point im sure a 1 member of a third party would do more to try and stop the GOP than the entire dems combined
Unless they're the deciding vote of a deadlocked Senate, doesn't mean a thing.
Maybe they'll make it sound good though.
Warren supporters aren't gonna be as passionate for a lot of reasons. I mean, she pretty much handed those votes away.
These other candidates weren't ever about shit to begin with either. Kamala's only reappeared because she thinks she can tap dance her way to a VP nom. Mayor Pete's already malding. Amy can't believe she even made it that far. I can't really give anyone who's locked in with Bernie a ton of grief when he's been the only serious 'other' option for two election cycles now. And with the biggest names being Cruz/Trump/Clinton/Biden - they're probably feeling pretty damn validated in their fuck everyone stances too. But that's kinda getting off the rails...
Its kinda wild to see what hard lines in the sand are drawn by the dems though. Not just the soft M4A/UHC talks, there's the marijuana stuff too.

DY's boy is about win a grammy
Normally given all the movement in blue states to legalize marijuana themselves, I'd say the admin is simply playing it safe and not adopting a national platform because they wouldn't gain many voters, but could potentially lose some.
But Biden is on record chastising marijuana - calling it a gateway drug that leads to unproductivity and crime. So it's probably just him, and as leader of the party, most folks will fall in line. On the bright side, his stance won't preclude states from handling that shit themselves, and a Biden administration would absolutely be as neutral as the Obama administration on state level legalization.

By Not Go To PostThis isn't along the lines of "only children think stuff is free" is it
No.
By reilo Go To PostThere's no reason not to have UHC on your platform but there's plenty of reasons not to use the M4A name to accomplish something like it.
If all Bernie and his supporters about is using the M4A name and it has to be that or nothing else then fuck them. If they scoff at UHC because it's not called M4A then they suck, too.
Bingo. UHC is the goal.
Acting like I need to cancel private insurance or that the government has to be the one to administer the actual healthcare is just classic Bernie though.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyou don't need to carry that bill word for word over but at least have the guy pretend to give a fuck about a big issue. How is that too much to ask but then we've got to entertain how much of an issue abortion is before the DNC? You're making this a harder discussion be than it needs to be with that perspective
It’s like you exist to prove my point. You’re not even giving him credit cause it’s a public option lol and not M4A

States rights and this "democrat led" shit from Trump is just gonna bring about some interesting shit we've been kicking the can down the road about.

obviously im confused still. not sure how a literal "we need m4a" exactly or nothing is still the demand or end all be all either
By Not Go To Postis there an oddsmaker on this shit yet?
7/10 Bernie supporters ended up voting for Hillary in the general, which is pretty solid vote conversion. Current Bernie supporters are polling at roughly the same level with respect Biden, so we can assume it will be much of the same. That's about as much pragmatism as we can hope for from soc Dems in the national, given they functionally serve as an insurgency wing of Democrats more than a legitimate alternate option. Hopefully they actually turn up down ballot this time, that's where their true value lies.

I’m not sure Biden the web page differs much here from the rest. He’s been pretty clear on a public option and o-care expansion. /shrug
That’s being said, maybe I don’t represent the common man. In that case, maybe some of the split personalities is intentional? Real life and twitter are not to-scale representations of one another.
I remember everyone joking “maybe he’ll just stay quiet and keep climbing in the polls” and that’s what he did.

Harris fits his "we can be allies again, I swear" rhetoric.
He'll sell her as the younger black representative of the ppl with experience working with cops and help bring the current unrest to an end while also treating cops with dignity and respect.
And the police unions nationwide will still 100% back Trump.

Suddenly, Benghazi will be a story again.
:|
Police have sealed off the area, and added extra non-transparent screening on Wednesday, according to reporters at the scene. Police confirmed reports that they had shut the airspace over the area they were searching, to avoid helicopters and drones from being able to fly overhead.
The police have not revealed what it is they are hoping to find. But a spokeswoman for state prosecutors in Braunschweig who are leading the investigation and working alongside Germany’s federal criminal police, confirmed that the search was taking place as part of its investigation into the disappearance Madeleine in Portugal in 2007.
As part of their investigation, just weeks ago police searched an abandoned factory property in the neighbouring state of Saxony-Anhalt in which Brückner is also believed to have lived, and uncovered thousands of images on video tapes and USB sticks buried there, including child pornography.
Didn't know what to think but it was a solid opportunity given the wee ones were completely unattended. Something I'll just never understand.
