Finally up to the point of fighting the Combine, The heavies are tanky af, but thus far grenades have been plentiful. Kept one in each inventroy slot and one in each hand so I felt like I could get the most out of them. Biggest issue is I throw like a small child in VR. There's a small section where you need to lob a grenade into a vent, and I'm not proud that I wasted 3-4 grenades to throw it in.
Game just keeps getting better. Didn't expect so much variety in headcrabs of all fucking things. The whole Northen Star section of the game has been fantastic so far. Puzzles and interesting encounters around every corner.
Did you ever play Lone Echo, Vapinho?
I've decided to wait for the next gen of full-fledged VR headsets. The Quest, while good for some stuff, is pretty disappointing for tethered use compared to the others, so I'm just not gonna bother. Looking for a Go to fuck around with as we speak and they're really hard to find.

Nah, might give it a go at some point tho. Truth be told I haven't played a lot of games in VR since I don't have a lot of space for a good experience. Only have roughly 1mx1m of clear space. Constantly twatting the walls and wardrobes while playing.
Finished HL:A. Overall, it was great. Definitely one of if not the best looking VR games. Puzzle sections were great throughout, combat was good. Felt like a 50/50 split between the two. I hope they make a sequel and build off the strengths of this, but it's Valve so that won't happens till holograms or some shit are the medium for games.
I have played Lone Echo. It is kind of like a walking simulator in zero gravity. The gameplay is nothing special but the environments are so well built and its got so much attention detail that it keeps you interested. It is the most immersive game I have played to the point where memories I had of the game felt oddly real. I really liked it.
Really looking forward to playing Half Life

If it makes you feel better, the inside out tracking isn't perfect. If I leave my hands by side for too long, or bring them to close to the headset it causes tracking issues.
Also there's some good QOL accessories for the OG Rift/Vive from VRCover and nada for the Rift S. The foam material is fucking awful on the Rift S. Worst feature of the headset, followed by the speakers,
I was brainstorming about how I would go about setting up a VR-friendly environment in my living room using my existing PC, since it wouldn't take much rearranging of furniture at all, and it just occurred to me ... whatever happened to Virtual Link?
Having to deal with a single connector would (possibly) allow me to run a long cable from my PC room to the living room, though I'd probably have to deal with signal degradation and active cables ... need to research it. Anyway, yeah, Virtual Link. Is it dead?

I don't think it's dead, but I don't know any current headset using it. Fuck knows when it'll become supported.

You'd think it would be a standard feature years after it's been certified.
The adapter cable was originally meant to provide added convenience for Valve Index users, making it so they could rely on a single USB-C connection to the headset rather than requiring separate physical connections for video, USB, and power.Idk, sounds like it's more or less dead in the water, with only Nvidia pushing for it.
However, for multiple technical reasons we no longer believe that the product would deliver that added convenience. Foremost on that list is reliability. Our current testing indicates the VR connection may fail to establish in a reliable manner. Additionally, Virtual Link technology has not been widely adopted by manufacturers, laptops in particular (where a single connection could be the most beneficial), translating to very few PCs having viable ports for the connection.

Yeah could well be. I’ll be honest, I never read up on it. Just assumed it’d be something to come with future headsets.
On the positive side, this could be your gateway into SFF PCs with a snug little VR box for the living room.

Impressions after a couple of hours of fooling around with the Go:
- this VR thing is pretty neat, huh
- the straps contraption on this headset is basic as fuck, it barely helps supporting it, with the bulk of the weight very noticeably resting on and against your face; will very likely be modding / swapping it with something that helps better balance it on your head in the near future
- inserted the glasses adapter from the get-go and had zero hassles with that; it definitely adds to the ski mask effect though, which I'd very much like to mitigate, as it's the main thing that keeps infringing on the feeling of immersion; it's probably not worth investing in custom prescription lenses for the Go, but if and when I upgrade to a full-fledged VR headset, yeah, a definite purchase
- the low (for what VR needs) resolution / screendoor effect is quite noticeable and distracting, though I understand what people mean when they say that after a while you almost forget it; feels like the resolution would need to be at least 2x what it is for comfort
Next up, VR porn.

:o that resolution. interesting that they've gone with smaller display panels. gonna keep an eye on this
I've been checking up on Quest 2 reviews and other content on YT to get a better idea of how well it works as a PC headset and damn ... forget connecting it via USB / Link ... playing wirelessly through Virtual Desktop is the way to go.
Sucks that you have to go through a bunch of sideloading and other bullshit to enable it, but it seems to work better than it has any right to via a 5ghz / wifi6 connection. I'm gonna give some more time, wait for Oculus to (re)enable 90hz and see where it's at in a month or two, but yeah.
I'm pretty sure I'm getting one.

VR Lads!
With the Quest 2 and the PC Link (we ordered one for a friend's birthday but we bought an alternative cable with the same specs)
can you also play non Oculus store games? Like Steam, Epic, ... VR games? Maybe even "free" ones ?

Steam’s VR API just hooks into the Oculus launcher. Basically, it just werks. Though there’s been some issues lately with Oculus updates and the like, I haven’t been following it much but I’m sure you’ll be able to pull up some news on it.
