I have been out of country. I Loved Italy and France and Costa Rica though could not live in any of those places. I don't know if I could live out of Cali honestly. Not many places in the world with similar weather.

Outdoor activities are a gajillion miles away and you get almost pathetic amount of value compared to other countries (eg snorkling in Hawaii versus Mexico), the cities are impossible to navigate unless you have a car and when you do rent a car it's impossible to navigate because everyone sucks at driving in America. Americans expect tourists to know English along with expecting locals to know English outside of America. The towns and especially port cities are far more beautiful and culture rich.
