By diehard Go To PostPleasantly surprised that candy corn isn't anywhere up there.
Google trends based but if true im embarrassed
American versions of those candies are all disgusting tho. Had an American "Kit Kat" and it was a disgrace. How does that shit qualify as chocolate

just use a password manager, generate new password, and you're done in 10 secs?
By Smokey Go To Postjust use a password manager, generate new password, and you're done in 10 secs? It's what I've been doing lately and works pretty well, tbh. I use 1Password and it even has the ability to change how it generates passwords so that it can work for any site. It also lets you have "shared" logins you can use with family for things like Netflix.

By Daz Go To PostAmerican sweets are trash overall. The premium, expensive stuff is all really good. It's the low end that is the issue... US versions of mass market candies are gross.
By Kibner Go To PostGrowing up in the country, I've had to do that myself more than a handful of times. Most recently, I had to do it because my little pup caught a baby rabbit in our yard when we let him out and ended up breaking it's neck and killing it before we even realized what he had in his mouth. Got some paper towels or latex gloves (can't remember which) to handle the carcass, double bag it, and binned it, much like you.One of my cats was outdoors and would leave presents (usually mice or voles) outside the backdoor. Basically paper towels and baggies was on hand for when that would happen. The worst was just hosed down.
GF was freaking out the whole time. lol
they got cell phones in basic now. hair. mustaches. time to shoot videos. bunks an absolute mess.

By Pac-12 Go To PostIn DY's day, they'd be on their knees scrubbing the floors with toothbrushes, goddammit.i can count on one hand the amount of times i got to call my family. every time we'd hear about a national emergency somewhere like a bombing, hurricane, or wildfire i'd tell the DS i had family in the area lmao
these fucks have it easier in the army than they do at amazon or any retail store. look at em. chillin. no masks. fucking around on the clock.
apollo, confirm or deny
edit: and the nerve of this twitter activist trying to proclaim this is statement of our times. these kids are worse off specifically because they're not weeded out early or actually put through paces.

Maybe its a good thing they have it easier?
By Kidjr Go To PostMaybe its a good thing they have it easier?i understand what you're saying. but nah
because when they actually get to their real assignment they're completely unprepared for it and people already there have to spend more time than they should bringing the new kids up to speed while also breaking bad habits. its too late to find out someone can't cope with things then. its been a problem for years but more people need to be weeded out before they even get to a duty station. there's always a concern about the mental health of soldiers, but when you lower the standards and relax the training you're going to get people wholly unprepared for the demands of military life. that's just setting people up to fail more than you're helping.
plus there's barely a learning curve. guys will show up on base and be thrown papers for an armored vehicle, get tasked with the medical readiness of dozens, handle and account for dangerous equipment, etc. very few spots have time to unfuck a new soldier properly. the stakes are too high. some kid doesn't feel like doing his headspace and timing and then we're all looking for his fingers the next day.

Makes total sense, there's something about baptisms of fires that I think sometimes bring out something in people. Pressure makes diamonds or whatever the saying is.
I believe in developing people no matter what whether its civilian or military. But at the same time, its necessary you make a deliberate effort to identify those who are able to adapt before shit hits the fan. Especially when you know it inevitably will. And there's only so much you can do for the next guy before they're a genuine liability.
Also, some fields promote faster than others and with far less oversight top to bottom due to all kinds of circumstances. Last thing any organization needs is automatic time in service promotions for guys who can't even keep their kit maintained or never showed the ability to even take care of themselves. Hell, the Navy is the clusterfuck it is today because they put more of an emphasis on standardized testing than management and leadership development.

Probably should give that trigger warning for Kibner.

By aka Espi Go To Postnothing wrong with recycling relevant materialI don't know, it's kind of a lazy look for him... it's good material and everything but if you like Bill enough to attend SNL during a pandemic you probably heard that joke and knew the punchline before he even finished talking to the camera
