Dillinger escape plan in 2008 at Roskilde Festival I think. Usually their best shows are at small clubs, but that was just insane anyway. Last show of the tour so everything went off the rails.
Strong second is The Armed a few years ago in London. Very small place and extremely intense.
Also not going to lie, seeing Slipknot (after they replaced David Bowie who got sick lmao), when I was 12 or 13, was amazing, even if I dont think too highly of their music these days.

By data Go To PostWhat's the best live show y'all ever went to?This actually explains a lot
I saw GWAR in high school so I peaked pretty early
I saw Santana at the Gorge Amphitheatre.
Also went to Lallapalooza in 94 and saw Tribe Called Quest, George Clinton, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, Pharcyde and Green Day.
been to or have worked other great concerts but those two really stand out with me

One of the most impressive lineups I’ve seen was actually hip hop:
audiotistic 2002 - Outcast, the roots, talib kweli, blackalicious, mos def and some others. I did see J5 and The Roots again but not on shrooms.
All around famous: The Eagles
Talent: liquid tension experiment
Favorite show: porcupine tree. They played three hours and did two encores. It was amazing.

Listening to some Bach french horn solos and holy shit this person playing them is ridiculous. What's blowing my mind is their ability to alternate octaves every eighth note for extended runs. It's dumb and just reminds me of how damn bad I am at playing this instrument compared to people who get paid money to do it.

By DiPro Go To PostNo idea.Only way you don't understand kib is if you're a dilettante and illiterate
i understood the idea behind what he said, but i am not qualified enough in the french solo to know the practice behind it
By Xpike Go To Posti understood the idea behind what he said, but i am not qualified enough in the french solo to know the practice behind itThe french horn is a brass instrument with a mouth piece (the part the player puts his mouth on) that is similar to a trumpet, but smaller. To make a sound on these instruments, you have to create a "buzz" with your lips. This means tightening the corners of your mouth while kinda tucking your lips into your mouth a little (like you are saying the beginning of the word "pickle").
The frequency your lips vibrate at while you blow air into the horn controls what pitch the instrument sounds. Higher frequency == higher pitch. In order to change these frequency vibrations, you do things like adjusting how tight the corners of your mouth are, how much lip is contacting the mouthpiece, and other things.
Most horn players have a range of a little over three octaves, but pros should be closer to four. Either way, the piece the person was playing had them do single octave or greater jumps roughly 3-4 times a second. Each jump requires a lot of embouchure (the short-hand way to refer to how the mouth and lips are shaped while "buzzing" into the horn) adjustments. Enough so that even a lay person would be able to see obvious physical changes happening to and around the mouth and lips.
The pitches/notes on a french horn are really close together such that if your lips are buzzing at just the slightly wrong frequency, you will either get a goose honk sound or a different note than was intended. Octaves requiring far different frequencies from each other makes it more difficult to consistently change your armature to produce the desired pitch.
The player was able to make those changes so fast and so accurately is a testament to how much they practice. Just a technical marvel that I probably wouldn't be able to achieve myself even if I practiced it for hours a day, every day, for several years.

we are so dumb
In one exchange, a state entomologist and a plant health director discuss how they should categorize and respond to a person who said they had eaten the seeds.
“I’m adding them to my database. Of course, there doesn’t yet exist field to indicate that someone ATE the seeds,” the plant health director wrote. “I don’t know if they also ate other seeds or the packaging,” the entomologist responds.
