I've been to Barbados a few times and not sure I'd be tempted even if I didn't have things tying me to the UK. It's an expensive country, and difficult to get a lot of things anyway. Away from the tourist spots, it's quite rundown and not particularly pretty nature either. The aforementioned hurricanes and humidity. Lots of the good beaches are private.
