That was a lot of hard to follow nonsense.
I hope its not as chaotically done as the trailer shows, that was headache inducing.

By DY_nasty Go To Postany series recommendations lads?Nothing really great out right now.
By Lunatic Go To PostNothing really great out right now.Btw I was enjoying Kingdom but damn the fall off after Zhao campaign was STEEP. I'll pick it up again soon tho
Besides JJK and CSM, I'm currently reading/watch list:
-Dandadan(less then 100 chapters, ongoing)
-Sonny Boy(completed, 12 episodes)
-Tatami Galaxy(completed but there's a sequel coming soon)
-REAL. I read a ton of it before and it was great but I stopped during the hiatus but more volumes released in the past few years so I'm re-reading from the start.
-Heike Monogatari(11 episodes). Only a couple episodes deep buts it's good so far.

Eighty Six LNs are great though can be very intense more so than the anime.
Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujō) LNs are also very good.

By DY_nasty Go To Postshield hero falling off a cliff is something i didn't plan onOh, you probably should have asked me about that. I read several of the novels, and, yeah, you right.
By DY_nasty Go To Postthe shame is washing over me. might start light novels this yearReformation of the Deadbeat Noble is definitely one I can recommend.
I remember really enjoy Praise the Orc! too. That one is completed while Reformation is still ongoing.
I don't think either title is high art or anything, but they were very enjoyable reads.

No good until Cyberpunk comes out in a few days
By domino Go To PostFor a sec I thought it was going to be a new berserk show and not the old one and got excitedit's coming, just gonna be live action on a $3 budget
I actually fuck with Maki's storyline, a lot, after this chapter. Everything about it, thematically, and how it's presented, is good. That panel with the individual Sumo wrestling frames was dope af too. You can animate them.
The two old heads put respect on her, now she's about to Toji up. Next chapter, I hope she gets Naoya the fuck up out of there, so we can finally move on.

I just don't like how conveniently sumo and katana man showed up(it's a battle royale but this is the first time a fight's been interrupted iirc) just so Maki could get her "todo enlightens yuji" moment. Hell, her "overthinking/not seeing" things wasn't even a thing before unless I'm forgetting something. As cool as Maki is, this feels like Gege solving a problem he created just a few chapters ago. Honestly I think this is the result of him being in poor health and having rushed that Zenin Massacre arc.
It would be especially contrived if this fight ends with Naoya digivolving again, Maki escaping and everyone else dead like I expect it to.

It probably should have had more interruptions, tbh. Considering all of these reincarnated old heads, running about. It's been mad long, it feels, but I think the comedian dude got involved in one fight. Might be wrong tho.
By FermentedFungi Go To PostAnyone else watch some of the new JoJo eps?
Thanks.
I know what I will be doing this weekend.
It's the weakest it's been since pre-shibuya, I've been enjoying the fights themselves(except maki, I think I hate her now) but the story/plot just has not moved in like 8 months its crazy. Even with the fights still being enjoyable, shibuya felt more like a battle royale than the culling games because it actually switched between characters and perspectives.
The CG is structured more like a tournament than a BR

its not even good tournament because these people are side characters and the CG itself had a horrible intro to begin with
like instead of actually doing a proper follow-up to shibuya, gege just threw this shit together with ALL of that aftermath unresolved

By DY_nasty Go To Postits not even good tournament because these people are side characters and the CG itself had a horrible intro to begin withI actually really liked the Yuji vs Lawyer fight. Thought it was a great intro. cool fight + character moments/developments. Everything after that has been Gege trying his best Baki impression.
Like, at least gives us more on why the fuck Kenjaku was in China, his meddling with the higher ups etc. What we've gotten can barely be considered crumbs.
Whatever payoff this all builds too better be worth it
fair enough, I am coping but this Maki fight is ruining all the goodwill Gege earned from me. justbringyujiback smh
I see Black Clover is entering its wano arc, good luck

Bias aside, I do like the Maki stuff (even if I think it's overstaying it's welcome) but I kinda agree. I think the bigger problem with the CG and the aftermath of Shibuya, is that it feels like Gege's influences finally got the better of them. There is a reason why Hunter x Hunter had walls of text to explain all of that shit, and why that arc with Ging and the election was it's own thing. The scope is insane and the political fallout probably should have had a chapter or two, by now.
There is also the running issue that has been present since day 1. It's a story with two versions of Superman in it. One is currently in prison, and there still isn't anyone in the story to deal with the other one...Sukuna.
It seems like Gege wants to say a lot, but the pacing is off, and there are like 100 topics to cover.
