By Lunatic Go To PostHow ready are you for Gojo to return as a cursed spirit. That wouldn't make sense 🤣 That only happens if you're killed without cursed energy like Naoya
This idol sequence from Todo. 😂 Amazing.
The anime definitely upped the Sukuna imagery. Nailed the snow segment too.

Time to change the anime thread img to Yūji on some Black air force energy tip

By s y Go To PostI've heard extremely high praise for the visuals and animation even for Ghibli's standards. Hope I can catch it soon. There were some details and animations in the first half that felt like they didn't have enough time (too little detail for "extras", too few frames for a major character). The painted backgrounds are gorgeous, flashback/dream sequences are just ridiculous, and the second half is fantastic.
By Lunatic Go To PostIt's all bantz m9I think the manga aced that scene in particular. Still, the anime version was exquisite.

Dude there's shit in there that made me say "oh that's why it took forever to make"

Pretty sure that was on purpose and an obvs tribute to Isao Takahata's later style of animation. In fact there's a lot of Takahata's looser line and movement in the animation especially during the start.
Finally started Mob Psycho Season 3. The episode where Mob thinks he's popular was killing me. Hanazawa gassing him up like a true bro
Will finally start JJK after that.

I love that they went on twitter to specify that there was no cgi or rotoscoping involved. Just reference and pure draftsmanship. Entire episode was gorgeous.

You’ve been working with Miyazaki for around 20 years now. Was there something different this time in terms of studio atmosphere or how it was created?https://fullfrontal.moe/akihiko-yamashita/
Akihiko Yamashita: The biggest difference was that we worked without a set release date, so without deadlines.
For nearly every film, the release date is decided sometime during the production, and so it’s common knowledge that once the deadline is set, we’re all heading towards disaster. (laughs) However, with Miyazaki getting old, he couldn’t work as fast as before, so the overall schedule adapted to his pace. We went rather slowly, and the release date was only decided once the film was completed.
On normal films, a lot of staff is gathered and put to work all at once to compensate for the lack of time; this time, we were just a small group of hand-picked people who had all the time we needed. So, if I had to say what made this production special, it’s how quiet it was: everyone followed their own pace, something that you’d never ever meet elsewhere.
One of the big differences being Takeshi Honda taking the reigns from Miyazaki who is now too old to correct every cut:
Coming back to what we were saying earlier, even beyond the designs, one of the strong points of The Boy and the Heron is how you can feel the individuality of each animator. In a way, would you say that what happened between Honda and Miyazaki is a sort of repeat of what happened between Kazuo Komatsubara and Miyazaki back on Nausicaä?https://fullfrontal.moe/inoue-boy-and-heron/
Toshiyuki Inoue: Actually, I love Nausicaä. It’s admittedly pretty common in Japanese animation, but I like it when each animator’s quirks are visible in the final film. Perhaps that’s because I’m an animator myself. Of course it’s probably not the best when the style completely changes every time a new animator comes in, but you can strike a certain balance between the two – and I’m always happy to see it realized. That’s the case for Nausicaä, with for instance Takashi Nakamura’s scenes, or Yoshinori Kanada’s… For instance Nakamura’s scene at the beginning, when the Ohmu comes out: it’s unmistakably his work.
So even though I was just one of the members of the staff on The Boy and the Heron and can’t see it as normal viewers do, it makes me happy to hear that people saw it that way. Though I must say that Honda redrew a lot of scenes, so his own style probably comes out the most. But Honda has a very wide range, so sometimes it feels very realist-school, sometimes it’s more cartoony, sometimes it looks like any other Ghibli work… Precisely because of that diversity, I would say that The Boy and the Heron is very much Honda’s film.
By s y Go To PostVisually, Hakuyu is easily the best sports anime. New movie trailer:

Good reads. Honda is so talented and going by this it’s pretty obvious Miyazaki trust him a lot
One Piece is being remade by Wit Studio (AoT, Ranking of Kings, Spy X Family). They're an excellent company who could do great work on OP.
By Call Sign: Apollo Go To PostGood reads. Honda is so talented and going by this it’s pretty obvious Miyazaki trust him a lotAfter just a few years in the industry, all the top animators nicknamed him master. Absolutely ridiculous. He's up there with Milt Kahl, Toshiyuki Inoue, Richard Williams Okiura and a few others who can legitimately be called the best ever 😩
I remember seeing his cut in the 1st Naruto movie and it shook me to my core
JJK:
Lol. Lmao. This result is funny af, but I'm fine with it. It's in character for Sukuna, so I don't know why some folks thought we were getting a Law and Order arc.
I thought Gege used gender neutral terms for Uraume. Is this just Vis translations being at it again?
Manga circulation at 90 million copies. Demon Slayer and this are about to have Shonen Jump giving these folks music industry deals. You're done when I say you're done type beat. Gege is def trying to have this finished by next December.
Caught some of the Jump Fest stream. Them voicing over some moments from the culling games was cool.

By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostJJK:who tf knows with jjk translations, there's no he/she in japanese but both the fanscan and official used 'she' this chapter so maybe the japanese used was more specific.
