Its about at HxH pace imo. Really slow out the gate.
Couldn't speak to the manga tho since its basically one piece status

By s y Go To Post9 episodes into Ippo, think I'll switch to the manga. Feels like the pace is super slow and I want to see if ots exclusive to the anime.

By C4-621 Go To PostS2 is on another level damnJJK? Yeah, it's instantly much better than season 1.
By s y Go To Postthis is really good
damn that is good and now I want a whole series by this dude
Respect to JJK. What an incredible fucking season so far
Thought S1 was a bit too Naruto for my liking, which isnt a bad thing, just too familiar.
Mahito is hilarious, he runs everybody to the ground with his Stamina build. Better buckle up for 7 phases

Mahito is my 2nd favorite character behind Yuji. Both of their best moments are yet to come(this season!).
FullFrontal has some amazing and rare interviews with legends like Toshiyuki Inoue in English. Check em out! They're currently in a series of intervies with key figures behind the new Miyazaki movie.
The director for this week's JJK episode has asked twice now for the episode to be delayed(still unfinished). Animators working on the episode and the ones after are complaining, asking for delays. Seems properly fucked.
By C4-621 Go To PostGuys I just got here 💀Production has been fucked for a while. Standout episodes like 16 had a lot more time in the oven than most episodes after 5. Doesn't help when braindead people watch episodes like 14 and go "wow, it looks great" when the 2nd half of that ep is clearly unfinished.
Mappa only has one decent team. This same team did JJK S1, JJK0 and then Chainsaw Man. Mappa doesn't give a fuck about their employees so they promised to deliver all of JJK season 2 within 2023, even though they had only finished Chainsaw Man at the end of December 2022.
If you want to read up more on the situation:
https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2023/10/24/creators-rebelling-against-the-odds-jujutsu-kaisen-season-2-production-notes-1-13/
Before the broadcast of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 even started, a certain notable voice in the anime industry pointed out the tangible negative effects that, in their view, the preceding movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 already had on workers. That film may not always stand to technical scrutiny to trained eyes, but for the broad audience it was marketed to, it was a massive success—one achieved by dedicating little time to its production, and even less so to the planning process. The person who said this was the director of episode 16. Mappa shat out JJK0 in 4 months and it set a ridiculous precedent. The movie looked no different than a regular episode and average anime viewers are mongrels with 0 standards and taste so they loved it anyways.
Mind you, no individual person’s experience is necessarily representative of what the process was like for everyone; you can be a lucky guest in a doomed project, get screwed within a production that largely worked out without pain, or simply suffer through the unique struggles of a specific position. Unfortunately, the sentiment behind all those complaints is one that has been attached to right about every comment I’ve heard from people working on JJK2. It’s not just those vocal creators, not just the ones who keep it more private, and not just the people in the team I’ve talked with daily for months—it’s pretty much everyone, especially if they find themselves in a core staff position, where they have to make sure all materials are delivered and somehow polished up to the bare minimum technical standards.
There’s a bitter aftertaste when you see some among them blame their own ambition for this situation, when they’re in this position because their ambition made them stand out and earn a position in a high-profile production like this. Meanwhile, everyone with actual responsibility over this mess will leave the project unscathed, if not straight-up reinforced. MAPPA will still be the renowned action anime studio of the moment, and everyone on the committee will get to pat themselves on the back for another job well done. That is what the original comment wanted to warn people against, and why these companies want to control the discourse around their titles.
In an alternate reality, JJK season 2 would have premiered in October instead of July and could have been a spectacle on the level of One Punch Man season 1, Space Dandy, Mob S2, etc.
For example, you know the insane sequence of Sukuna vs Jogo in episode 16? All the background animation, movement, effects, etc . Most of it was animated by one guy, he had time.
The same guy, who didn't have time animated the more incomprehensible sections of Yuji vs the Grasshopper
@lunatic
You read the new Frieren chapter? What a cruel way to leave things before going on break for a few weeks.

Just finished the new JJK episode. Absolutely stacked staff list, one of the most impressive in recent history in fact. Damn near all the best young domestic and foreign freelancer talent like Weilin Zhang, Vincent Chansard, Hakuyu Go, Tsuchigami etc.
The ambition of this episode is even higher than the previous one, the scope and scale even bigger. Some incredible moments and some that are obviously unfinished and incomprehensible. If it wasn't clear before with all the staff openly shitting on Mappa , the episode was made under shit conditions. More time was needed.
Like most of the best episodes of Shibuya , I can't help but wonder what could have been. Also, they ruined Yuji's breakdown at the end by playing the OP song idk wtf they were thinking.
Edit: also, the TV broadcast didn't even have a preview of the next episode, so yeah lol
During the scene of a building gettign wrekt, an animator used Mappa's production floor as reference 🤣

I usually joke about Mappa sacrificing people lives for our entertainment but they are actually doing it
This shit look even crazier than last week
This shit look even crazier than last week
Yea, there were some obvious as hell rough spots, and sections that could use more time. The folks in charge of Mappa are absolute garbage for giving them these working conditions.
Having said that, holy shit. Crazy ass episode. I think I've liked every addition they've made to the manga. What happened to the civilians was bad enough, but in the anime they made it 100 times worse. I'm surprised you didn't hear screams throughout the entire fight.
And making the area heat up because of Sukuna slashing so much was an inspired choice from the director. The ost is crazy too.
Damn dude.

Started Frieren. Damn...this is amazing.

@sy abi, you once posted a video of a manga artist drawing a massive scene that looked like a desert rally or something. Not a lot of info but do you know the vid I'm talking about?
This episode reminded me of how much of a hoe Megumi was in season 1. This mf'er was in the process of summoning that shit on Todo, before he got interrupted.

By s y Go To Post@lunaticI was saying earlier that I had no idea where they are going with this current arc but this current release gives me hope. Frieren has been going on longer and more frequent breaks recently which makes me think the author is having issues of where to go with the story.
