By /sy Go To PostShould this be an anime and manga thread? We could just spoiler tag manga spoilers.I'm ok with that.
Finally caught up on Fire Force. The fan service continues to be shit and fuck up good scenes and pacing. It's actually impressive how trash juice smelling, beyond juvenile, garbage it is. Ashy dick energy. The comedic timing also manages to be continuously spotty. Fucking how....
The fights tho. Wheww. I actually like where the story is too. The villains don't give a single iota of a fuck.

Completely missed me, Masaaki Yuasa's new anime
Watched the first episode and I'm in love, this is gonna be special.

By Not Go To PostShirobako redux?I liked Shirobako but this ha a ton more promise.
By domino Go To Postawww Deku had a momentits the last ever.
mha is trash and deceased after this arc
Oh yeah I just finished watching Kimetsu No Yaiba a few days ago.
Anyone who says 'its just another shonen anime' please put keep your bad takes in 2019.

Please. It's one of the few animes where death is treated as a thing and serious injuries arent just brushed away by a miracle cure.
That and the story is pretty great. 2nd season will be much better too.

nothing wrong with enjoying a basic shounen with great presentation. no need to make it out to be more that what it is either.
That's what Ive been trying to say, it's not basic. It's very well written, doesnt pull its punches. It feels more like the classic macabre shonen in the past than anything.
Eizouken keeps winning, the show's Twitter is actually highlighting the animators that worked on the first episode:

Basically.
I guess not enough people died in the first season. Lol.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostBasically.AoT raised the standards tbh

That's more than fair, tbh. Lol. AoT is just....different. I dunno if Mob counts, but that too.
Demon Slayer picks up where the movie starts. It moves like an older Shonen from that point forward. Lots of death and a villain that's not for the monologues.
Side note, I've been rewatching Bleach. I've got a much stronger appreciation for some of the shit that happens in the main arcs, tbh. Before he was rushed to hell and back, it's clear that Kubo planned a lot of this shit out. Ichigo's hollow journey might as well be it's own little horror series. I thought his powerups were out of nowhere, but they're actually not. Not saying it's better than it is (it's not), but I'm having fun.
Whenever the fuck Dragonball ever comes back, it would be nice if the side characters got as much to do, as the ones in Bleach. Then too, everyone in this fucking show is FTL and most of the cast can level countries and planets.
By DY_nasty Go To PostIf your main character ain't dead or traumatized in the first arc you soft
Tanjiro isn't traumatized? LOL
I expected way more out of the animation for this part of My Hero....
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostTanjiro isn't traumatized? LOLThe whole adaptation sucks. They're sticking way too close to the source material, It's like they're using the manga in place of real storyboards. Outside of that Yutaka Nakamura animated climax, the deku fight was just the manga panels with worse artwork.
I expected way more out of the animation for this part of My Hero….
Same for pretty much every fight in this series outside of All Might vs Nomu in season 1 and Bakugo vs Midoriya in season 3. If there's a manga that needs its anime adaptation to make up for the bad fights, it's MHA.
It doubly doesn't make sense considering MHA actually has a great schedule and production unlike shows like Black Clover which has an awful, awful schedules but they break their back to make sure their important episodes are crazy wild off the backs of young, webgen animators.
Imagine if Yu Yu Hakusho or Naruto/Shippuden/Boruto took the same approach? We wouldn't have so many great episodes like Naruto 133 or Shippuden #375. , not to mention Boruto 65 and soooo many more.
Basically:
I liked the episode. But had to skip monologues again. It's a shame, I used to look forward to catching up on MHA saturday mornings, but now it feels like an obligation.
Making my way through Vinland Saga and it's a totally different feeling.

The new Pokemon short is gorgeous, the compositing is beautiful. IIRC done by Colorido Studio and directed by Shingo Yamashita.
Awesome how we get the same dub team from the regular series
Top quality as always
Can't believe they even went the extra mile and hired VAs who could do British accents. No expenses spared by the largest media franchise in the world
