You're now part of the elite class. You don't count.

If you have any sort of standards, you do.

I mean would be nice if games could run well (which some actually can be overclocked to, om cw)
I really have no idea how bad the console is. I just can't imagine myself caring.
Hows Mario? Mario Kart? Mario Party? Minecraft? Splatoon? lol
I may play a Zelda game on my own.
I view the thing as a children's console. Shitty graphics are part of the charm.

Shameful tbh
I would like to get one, but Dipro refuses to pass my request for a Pro revision to Nintendo, so fuk em
By DY_nasty Go To Postthis is abuse btw
Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Smokey kid gonna be soft af spoon fed fancy graphics and resolutions. How you gonna get strong with the force like that?
a kid wont care about garbo switch performance but as a parent you'll care about how fukken expensive everything is for it compared to pc and other consoles

He already got a handle on the dual analog sticks, using the superior Xbox asymmetrical format. No Playstations in the house either. Right on track

By inky Go To PostI've been hearing / seeing / reading about KRZ for years and I still have absolutely no idea what the game is about.
Respect to the authors, will play for sure when it's finally done.
Yeah, the obvious news here is that it is finally concluding after launching in 2013. As for the game, it's a story based point and click adventure game. That's it. The hook is the atmosphere and storytelling if you are into that. It's magical realism meets TV Lynch, that kind of stuff. It might've been way more novel 7 years ago.
Thurott.com getting the important exclusives:
As it stands right now, the Series X features, on the back of the hardware, two USB-A ports (of the SuperSpeed variety), ethernet, a single HDMI port, optical audio, and a power connection. No HDMI in. Mattrick's TV dream is dead.
That's an oddly specific use lol.
PS5 will have it too. Just blows me away. Half the point of HDMI was lossless audio combined with video in one cord. Been a minute since audio pass through via HDMI was made a standard functionality on cheap ass receivers too. I mean fuck … we've had several "ooh shit I need to upgrade my receiver" moments since optical became obsolete and who runs and HDMI and OPtical to the flat screen?

By Fenderputty Go To PostLol opticalMe. It supports 2.1 systems flawlessly. I have it plugged into a DDRC-24 which uses Dirac room correction to make my sound system better than any manual tuning I would have the patience to do.
Whodafuck uses optical still?
I use the same thing on PC, but hooked up via USB instead of optical.
e: if i wanted the same capability through HDMI, I would have to spend at least triple, if not six times the amount as I did for that DDRC-24
Although, I guess, I use the optical out of the TV instead of the optical out on my consoles. So, it isn't necessarily needed on the console itself.
e: also, shout outs to the dead Chromecast Audio which supported optical out from the same jack as analog out. It was the best and cheapest way to make any speaker system have wireless control and source

So do you hear the difference between lossless audio or room corrections more?
I guess it's all cost benefit analysis, but it seems the nicer the speaker, amps, etc etc I install, the more I'm going to want my source to be uncompressed.
By Spengo Go To PostI’m watching a playthrough of FF10 and my opinion hasn’t changed since 2001. Absolute haram.
It's the good kind of haram.
By Zabojnik Go To PostSpoken like a man who's never had ground hum issues.
No I haven't had that issue, but if I did, I would likely try to solve the grounding loop before reverting back to optical. Break off the ground prong on one of your device cords or fuck, splice on a new end with two prongs.

So would you use this for your xbox series x too or any gaming console? How small a market do you think you are? At some point the costs of including one have to outweigh the sales it can generate. /shrug
I fucking knew it was the master race dudes that would want optical haha

I'm joking m8, though optical did save my ass once with a DAC/AMP combo, when I couldn't get rid of noise via USB no matter what.
By Fenderputty Go To PostSo do you hear the difference between lossless audio or room corrections more?I'm only running 2.1 so it is lossless for me. Optical only becomes lossy once it tries to do more than like four channels, iirc. I have not done an apples to apples comparison, but well done room correction makes a huge difference and I wouldn't be surprised if it made a bigger difference than slightly lossy audio (the amount of lossiness does matter and I don't know how much like 5.1 or whatever optical has).
