Having said that, I do wonder who these people are that donate or pay to subscribe them. Not in terms of why they do it, but how many of them there are

By rodeoclown Go To PostI don't really have any problem with streamers or YouTubers. I've played games I otherwise wouldn't have because I saw them played online.
My main issue with them is that they make me feel fucking old, which I am.
By Bungie Go To PostI've never been into watching streamers. I get it, but it just doesn't interest metheres a lot of them, but def feel like a lot of medium sized streamers are kept afloat entirely by 1 or 2 subs with very big wallets

By Bungie Go To PostI've never been into watching streamers. I get it, but it just doesn't interest meI think it depends. I don't watch a ton of Twitch, but I think smaller channels do tend to get propped up by a small group of people gifting subs out to the chat.

So they make it through what? Advertising?
By Bungie Go To PostSo they make it through what? Advertising?Sponsors is like 90% of their income
By Bungie Go To PostSo they make it through what? Advertising?ads/sponsors/developers paying them an hourly rate to play their games. Subs and donations help but both are an inconsistent stream and generally not worth it
some get thousands per hour for streaming someone's game and you can stream for as long as you want basically lmao
there's literally an ads button you press for twitch and some streamers spam it (there's no limit) and you get money for that per viewer. During AoC's game all poki had to do was press it 9 times in a row between games, and she had like 70k watching.
it sounds like easy money, but these people are literally the 1% who made it.
publishers gain too much free marketing from twitch to enact a widespread ban, but I could see it becoming popular for narrative heavy games. too many people watch on youtube/twitch and feel like they've already enjoyed what the game has to offer
didnt atlus ban people from streaming persona 5 and the gamers declared it a violation of human rights
By Xpike Go To Postdidnt atlus ban people from streaming persona 5 and the gamers declared it a violation of human rightsLots of Japanese games disallow streaming of certain sections of games and will bluescreen the PS4.

Have to agree that it’s a bit insane to allow story driven games to be streamed in its entirety basically. Streamers are gaining more than they are giving in those cases.
But how many of those narrative heavy games get that much saturation to the point of hurting sales? Most of the top streamers do social or multiplayer games primarily. Heck, most streamers would be hurting their numbers if they prioritize narrative games without taking a payout, at which point it's a calculated risk from the developer's side.
And on youtube, most long form let's play series center around the specific commentary or reactions by the player. As dumb as it sounds, people want to see other people react to the narrative. There aren't thousands of people out there passing on walking sims or prestige narrative games because they saw a silent 30hour playthrough in 1 hour chunks. It's really not happening.
I don't doubt there will be edge cases. Most of the times the success comes from picking the right influencer to promote your product rather than how much money you throw out there, but I subscribe to the notion that most of these problems have fixed themselves already and everyone is perfectly happy cashing those checks under the current system.

Agree with this.
90% seems like a number he pulled out of his ass ahaha what? Companies dont spend money blindly they do research and streaming isn't a new gig they know by now how/if it affects sales
By Laboured Go To PostAgree with this."90% of ppl wo watch a game on stream rather than buy wouldn't have bought it regardless" is the dumbest take of the day
By Laboured Go To PostAgree with this.
Then don’t provide a platform for those lazy ass bums to get their fill and preserve the mystery of a game like TLOU2. Even if you know about the things that happen, you gotta buy in to see them happen.
I say ban that shit.
really depends on the games i think and a lot of random factors. something like among us has been out since 2018. i dont think that recent huge success, would have come without streamers.

By sy Go To PostDoes Forza Horizon have Burnout Paradise style online and challenges? You hit the multiplayer button and it will seamlessly (iirc) put you in a "room" with other players. A marker will pop up on everyone's GPS that you all drive to and the event will start. It also starts automatically if some players take too long to get there.

I think that is how it worked in FH3. Not sure about FH4.
FH4 is open roam, you can start events from the menu or drive there, you can do most races solo and you'll get pop ups to join other people in the session if you want.
if you missed the stream, here's some highlights with multiple povs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHf0zqZlgww

Really enjoying DQXI. Wholesomeness distilled. Still think V is far and away the best of the series.

We have one guy who demands to awp. But you know, if he does badly other people start picking it up instead, and the awkward silence when he then buys an AK or M4 is sensational. Also we often double awp on some CT sides. We dont really have an IGL, entry or anything though. But we try to tell Will to go entry, so he isnt last alive every time.
I really loved it.

most of us AWP when we want to (I do not AWP, AWP is bad weapon for BAD players with no IQ)... apart from our Belgian friend who, when he plays, must AWP because it is the LAW in Belgium apparently.
back then you didn't really have to park your ass to get AWP kills, scary/sensational times. I'd fucking charge with an AWP lmao
also we didn't have roles per se but they basically let me do whatever I wanted
