By blackace Go To PostI know some people have picked it up, but who has been playing CK3?I haven't been playing as much since it just takes too much of my time cause of the "one more turn" aspect that always makes me realize my entire day is shot. The game is impressive though with how much detail is packed in
Game has been brilliant so far… so many systems to learn tho, but I am getting there
Yeah I've been playing, I tried to manage my Wessex bloodline properly but the transition to my son wasn't so smooth. He was fighting so many petty conflicts whilst I was trying to establish the kingdom. So I've not enjoyed having to clean up the mess from the unwinnable wars he started. Serves him right that Iceland captured his wife, ended the war, and then "released" her from prison so they could pump her on the side whenever they wanted. I've got back the territory lost through succession laws now, but need to take Mercia before I can establish England

Trying to learn the game since I never played CK2 and been the Byzantine empire from 867. It's fairly easy going and allows me to fuck around. So Basil the first fucks around and dies and immediately everybody revolts against my son and his brother is trying to take the throne... like literally off rip lol.

Just got my first Hades clear. Got it with the shield and basically just stacked doom damage on the special and played deliberately. 36 minute run.
Looking forward to clearing it with these punishment pacts for more loot!

I played a bunch CK3 after launch, like around a 30hr save or so. Started as Denmark, and slowly worked myself over Norway, Iceland and England, then got a bunch of claims after the HRE collapsed, fought it over with Francia and Aquitaine and expanded south with my last claim being over the Kingdom of Sicily. The Byzantine empire kind of collapsed duking it out with Hungary and the middle east, so it became a little easy after I got absolute crown authority.
Surprisingly I could never take over Sweden. I stopped playing before the latest patch came out, which I think made it a lot harder to refuse the call to alliance wars and other stuff. Honestly, I'm surprised how content packed it is from the start, compared to heavily DLC'd CK2. The only thing I kinda miss is the ability to have a treasury and get an items/weapons inventory. I haven't even looked at mods.

By blackace Go To Postdid you start in 867? also how many generations did you go through?1066 and about 6 generations, but I didn't make it through the end of the game, I just expanded too fast and it became a bit easy.
It took me about 100 years to reestablish the Kingdom of the Danelaw, then the Empire after I created the other kindgdoms, and it kinda snowballed from there.

I need to learn how to prepare my heirs better. Don't know if I am not laying my titles out correctly or if I am not educating them enough to be worth or whatever... but everybody seemed to hate him off rip 🤣

Yeah, there is a lot of prep with heirs between guardianship and events, but even then it's a crapshoot of stats, and 867 is especially tough because the inheritance law techs are centuries away. There are some ways to manipulate your lands to ensure most of the good titles go to your primary heir, sometimes that means not creating certain counties or holding more lands than you should. Even moving your capital to a new territory might be recommended, but it's a bit too technical after a certain point.
luckily I am/was playing the Byzantine empire. Their succession laws are single heir but everybody thought he was a clown and started plotting as he took the crown

By Yurtlicious Go To Postis most of this stuff RNG (bad heir, betrayals etc) or is it influenced by your decisions?
yup... but of course not only by your decisions
At the point in Hades where the final boss is giving me too much grief. Takes long enough to get there that I haven't nailed down his patterns yet.
All that said, every weapon in the game seems viable other than the gun. The gun is a piece of shit

BG3 Early Access cleared for the first time.
At this point I'm giving it a solid 8 (not considering bugs, since those are getting fixed pretty regurlarly)
-Crafting system needs a lot of work. But that's mainly because when I played DOS 2, you could find recipes or look up all the combo's. Not yet in BG3 though, also didn't find a single recipe. Maybe I need to pay attention to the lorebooks more?
-Combat System has grown on me but sometimes the activation order doesn't make sense. My ranger with extra initiative in ambushes, encounters etc.. is usually 3rd or 4th but this lumbering berserker gets first turn sometimes?
-Still images don't do justice how good this game looks with all the options turned on. Rocking a 1080 and i7 4770K gets over 100fps everything maxed out. You can choose Vulkan or DX but performance may vary, need to try both I'd reckon.
-Camera can derp a bit during combat, especially with targets close to each other and near walls or cliffs.
-Story is great, lot's of dialogue options and ways to advance. Everything is voiced, which is insane.
-Sometimes exploring a random area with a high perception character can change so much, so they're must haves in every party.
-Haven't explored the companionshipbond mechanic to much, you can never please everyone in the party though. But I'll try another playthrough when the next big content drops so maybe I'll try to explore that more.
All in all great little game at the moment which will only get better.
If they were to have a EA discount, I'd say jump in now. But with full price, no harm in waiting a bit longer unless you really want to play now.

The gun is viable, especially with a bunch of Poseidon boons that push away and boost the wall damage. Doesn’t really help for Hades himself (you can get stuff that makes it damage bosses, but didn’t feel that effect to me) but it does mean you can get there a ton easier, and not get forces into safer choices along the way. The last areas in particular are super easy when you can smash everything into the walls from distance straight away
The most important booms for taking on Hades are the Hermes ones imo. He walks slowly so if you can dash 3-4 times to get far outside his range often you can clear his bombs and the enemies he spawns a bit easier.

Honestly, that feels too soon. With R&C coming in within that period, you'd imagine they'd want to spread that, GoW, Horizon, and GT7 out a bit
That's a fucking nuts first year, until something inevitably slips into 2022

By DerZuhälter Go To PostHades 2nd form is bullshit. Had 30 runs now and still didn't beat him.I found the second form to be much easier with my build, tbh. Died twice on the first but barely got touched on the second.
By Lupercal Go To Post-Combat System has grown on me but sometimes the activation order doesn't make sense. Also berserkers are a barbarian sub - type, correct? If it holds true to tabletop, they normally have average or above average dexterity (for more AC when using medium or light armor) which would increase their initiative bonus.
By JesalR Go To PostMaybe it's the boons I had, but there was so little damage being put out, and the special just feels so slow and hard to landI only played with the gun once but noticed that opening with the special and then switching to shooting bullets until the special landed and then launching the special again (and repeating) did some major dps. I think you can also fire off a special when the reloading animation of your main shot begins so you can still get out some damage when you think you shouldn't.
The rail relies on your boons being on point. You better be stacking Hangover, Doom, Chill, or something to pile up per-hit type damage on the main attack and the special requires oomph as well.
They did actually plan to backport the high frame rate fixes they made in H3 and ODST to the other games, so I'm guessing this includes that. This also includes an FOV slider for console, which is really the important thing since they're really narrow on Xbox.

Still, my ranger should be winning damnit. Maybe it was my one eye.
Decent for people buying the new Xbox to be fair. Like 3 of the best games ever made getting a boost
Was God of War any good? Remember when it came out someone irl telling me it was but there was a bit of bloat.
I'm nearing the end of TLOU2 now. Ellie just left the farm. Would've been refreshing to see a happy ending.
