By Daz Go To PostThe SSD should be fast enough to not need quick resume.Quick resume isn't about speed, it's about keeping multiple games suspended.

By sy Go To PostQuick resume isn't about speed, it's about keeping multiple games suspended.
Will be lame if it only suspends the one game, but with save anywhere and decent checkpoints it becomes a bit of a moot point if you can just load it as quickly.
By Laboured Go To PostOh, actually, I do like the thing that tells you how long it'll take to complete something feature.this is the coolest feature to me
cards have a lot of potential, ux looks very messy but it'll be refined over the next few years and should become pretty cool
I wouldn't be too sure Sony will refine the dashboard. I don't think they did much if anything to the PS4. They started from a better place than the Xbox though, so it was definitely not as necessary
That said, I wonder how that UI scales with a large number of games. Given that I apparently own some 300 PS4 games going in to this gen, it'll need to deal with bigger libraries way sooner

Doing away with folders would be a mistake.
Multiple we don’t know. But the system didn’t ask if you wanted to close Sackboy...
By Bungie Go To PostSo does PS5 have quick resume or doesn't it?

By cRrusheR Go To PostDon’t be boring zabo. Some of this stuff you might never use but there are people who do, it doesn’t mean it’s a waste of resources.
It’s like reading “I don’t care about this social thingy” well yeah, ok.
That's why I would really like to know how much usage it has on the platform. Do you use it? Does anyone on Slaent? I can only guess.
And do not assume that it's "free" even if you don't use it. If not having it means, less valuable space wasted on the SSD and RAM, well yeah, then it also has a certain "cost" to it.

This was my biggest issue with the PS4 UI. The folders help but it still doesn’t handle large amounts of games well

I have used the share streaming and the “take control” streaming three times. Obviously not meant for me, but I can see kids using it to help each other pass a level or find hidden stuff in games. It works.
You are assuming that it piles on, resource wise, but you can’t use all the features at the same time. Don’t know if it has been mentioned how much RAM and SSD space is set aside for system level operations.
Sounds like it’s unclear then. Not an important feature in my opinion, but unnecessarily vague messaging to say the least
By Bungie Go To PostSounds like it’s unclear then. Not an important feature in my opinion, but unnecessarily vague messaging to say the leastI don't really get how it's unnecessarily vague. If they don't have it, why would they talk about it. If they do, and they haven't mentioned it, it's hardly vague given they said they'll show off more features in the next weeks
Quick resume is nice but not a deal breaker imo. Would be nice to have it, of course.
That video guide thing being under plus is a joke tho. Hopefully it's not like backup saves on the cloud, whereas only the account with plus subscription benefits from the feature. I wish it's like online multiplayer, where all PS4 accounts takes advantage of the online.

By Daz Go To PostSuspend and resume is for propel with attention deficit. Why you juggling 4 games in one go?I wouldn't have worded it that way but... yeah, wtf lol. Odd "feature".
At what I assume is the halfway point of TLOU2. Game switched over to Abby after day 4 in Seattle. I thought I had read spoilers before release that Ellie gets killed early on, in the MGS2 twist, so I'm surprised it didn't quite play out that way.
Abby is abbysolutely JACKED.
Overall, enjoying it and it may be my 'GOTG'.

By Eternity Go To PostI play one game at a time. Am I wrong?
I can’t juggle single player games. One at a time, otherwise I completely lose interest.
And with MP games quick resume only saves you the initial boot time, nothing else.
switching between 2 games is somewhat convenient but nothing necessary since you can only focus on one thing at a time anyway
4 games has little to no practical application and is fanboy catnip

By cRrusheR Go To PostPiP isn’t dumb at all. Brings walkthroughs and shit into the 21st century. It's a nice little feature. Instead of watching long ass vids that might contain spoilers and shit. Locking it behind PS+ is pretty stupid though.
By Eternity Go To PostI play one game at a time. Am I wrong?Would it really matter with 4-8 seconds load time?
By Eternity Go To PostI play one game at a time. Am I wrong?I'm like you on single player games. Once I start one, I go til the end. No distractions.
But sports/esports/competitive/multiplayer games I can play some at the same time.
For example, right now I play regularly GT Sport, Rocket League, PGA Tour 2k21. Will get back into Ghost of Tsushima tomorrow for the multiplayer too.
I would do quick resume with 1 SP game and then something like Tetris. These videos of prople jumping from multiple 40 hour sp games seems crazy to me.
By Laboured Go To PostQuick resume is quite a family-oriented feature.100% agree with this and it would probably where I use it the most.
I hope you can do PiP with YouTube, Twitch, Netflix etc.
That's the most exciting feature. I need a playtime tracker though.

8 seconds seems like a lot.
my expectations were too high.
edit: that's cold booting while in another game. calm.

Popular opinion seems to be that it exists, so with that assumption it wouldn’t have been hard to say here’s this thing and we’ll talk more about it in the next video. It’s not a major criticism, but it would have taken 5s to cover.

If they have a rollout plan for UI features, they're obviously going to hold things back.
Just because people assume things exist, doesn't mean they really need to go into each and every one
Steve came out for Smash Bros yesterday (?), he's so fun, it's actually insane how much effort is put into every single DLC character
Microsoft own Richard Ledbetter's shoes. Won't let him put them on unless he puts a hitpiece out about Sony every week.

Has either MS or Sony commented on the streaming situation, in regards to their specific consoles? Streaming on the PS4 was hot garbage and the Xbox was barely better. I don't even need ALL of the bells and whistles that PC affords, but it would be nice if I didn't have to use a capture card.

It's not exactly the same, but whenever I've demoed analytics dashboards to users and potential clients you touch on things you're going to cover later otherwise you get unnecessary questions or leave people with a poor understanding of the feature set. This is marketing so it's a bit different. However, not everyone is going to watch the video, some people will just read the headlines from the articles covering it, comments, and make assumptions based on that.
I said unnecessarily vague because I read stuff like this:
By sy Go To PostAll evidence points to yes
And then read stuff about Sony apparently confirming it's a cold boot of the game and not a resume feature.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostThat must be just about the last thing Crytek still ownsHe's certainly more enthusiastic than any Crytek employee over Crysis.
lmao
You laugh but basic things are very difficult for Greg, and you should try to be kinder to people that cannot tie their own shoelaces.
None of you seem to be buying the digital version anyway, so all this talk about quick resume/suspended state seems less relevant than how quickly you can change a disk
