Then that crushes the Xbot
Mafia III’s DLC has been wild. I started Sign of the Times accidentally, I went to Father James for a different mission and ended up in spookyville for a few hours.
The tonal shift was so severe it sent a shockwave through my PC and shattered the glass side panel.
Nether the less, it was of a higher quality than it had any right to be. The plot revolved around afetishist ritualistic cult.
The mission design was a welcome departure from the main game. LA Noire style murder scene investigations, using a black light to navigate and look for clues, topped off with neat shooting galleries like an abandoned Mardi Gras warehouse.
The final mission was something else though. even the keycard section and damn QTE boss fight didn’t spoil it. Genuinely recommend playing it.
Anyway so I followed that up with another DLC, Stones Unturned. That went from a car chase around faux-New Orleans to a two man invasion of a foreign island and recovering a nuke from a rogue CIA agent. Equally just fucking out there compared to the main game, but in different ways.
Mission design was less interesting, it was all just shooting, turret section car chases and set pieces. Basically a 2-3 hour Uncharted game within Mafia III.
Enjoyable overall, but skip-able.
There’s one more that I’ve not gotten round to yet. Hoping it’s as weird as the other two. I had no intention of even playing the DLCs when I started this after Mafia I/II but now they’re probably my favourite part of Mafia III.

79? This has to be a console gamer thing, right? This shit is worse than the original in every way. They don't even know how to draw out scares. Alma's dumbass tried to run at me 10 different times in the first hour. They keep trying to scare me with glimpses of these crawly naked dudes, but I wasted like 20 of them in chapter 2. The guns are worse, the environments look the exact same, there's way too much talking -- nothing has a chance to breathe. Even the guards have gotten stupider since the original.
Also they dont have those terrifying monsters voices from the first FEAR. Those dudes sounded so fucking angry/demonic. Imagine you're playing Resident Evil, but you're Max Payne. Zombies wouldn't stand a chance.

By Hitch Go To PostImpressions of BG3 pls, particularly as compared to D:OS and OS2Read the thread.
Unless I've missed a few pages, most discussion is about other people's impressions and graphics/character creation/jank
Wonder if I'll end up getting frustrated by dice rolls for conversation skill checks. Never had a problem with it in combat, but don't think I've ever played a game where the story is effected by it.

Embargo on next gen gameplay running on series X is lifted this week. This is dirt 5 running in resolution mode:
12 teraflops
12 teraflops
Because Dirt 5 is a trash ass current gen game that has been ported over. It's just as little an indication of what this upcoming gen is capable of as is the gif of 2 seconds load time for a current gen game that has maybe the smallest and most narrow non-interactive levels I've seen this gen. It's in no way more complex than PS1 level design with a coating of modern GFX.

By diehard Go To Postwe go through this every new console generation why are people not used to itPuddlegate, WatchDogs 1 "downgrade" it's always the same
By Eternity Go To PostIf that is official marketing material, then I have no idea what they are thinking.it was taken from an arstechnica article
if Horizon 5 looks like that then there is something to talk about, but it won't...
They aren't ready, it looks like.
All the more bizzare when you consider the fact that they revealed the Series X last December, nearly a year ago.

By diehard Go To Postit was taken from an arstechnica articleI agree, first party Xbox games will be fine.

But this sort of material is not helpful in fighting the narrative about games looking underwhelming on the X as launch approaches.
Honestly I see it looking the same on the PS5 at 120fps, they probably have to downgrade the fidelity to keep it at those framerates.

it's just funny that they have the 12TF machine but can't seem to put out any impressive footage.

yeah they had years to prepare and they had to have known that halo wouldn't be THE game a while ago. people will say it won't matter since launch sells out anyway and games will come in 2021+ but they're not helping their post-launch period with stuff like this.

Save often and it'll be fine.

Xbox BC putting in the work!
Actually curious to see how well games like Dirt 5 will sell on Series, considering the whole pitch for the thing is gamepass.
It's a weird screenshot. No performance mode doesn't look impressive, and no neither does image mode:
But it's fine. A cross gen game with no improvements other than framerate and resolution.

i can't see myself going for 120fps in games unless it's during multiplayer.
there won't be many 120fps games, anyway.

By Eternity Go To PostCould there be some sort of major bottleneck on the X, impossible right?yeah it's their PR team.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostIt's running on dynamic 1080p in the perfomance mode. I wonder how will it run on the Series S.
blackace's Nightseeker is finally turning into a DPS machine, Smokey carried me for 20+ levels.
I don't really have a dedicated healer, I'm mainly relying on Dy's passive heals from his buffs and Perfect Blue's healing swings lmao.
boss fights are fantastic but I really miss SMT's abominations, everything is too cute here ;_; do I have to kill you? we can talk about this ;_; <3

120fps feels great. So when you are used to that, even 60 feels a bit eh. Then you go back and play something that is 30 and think your machine is broken.
Going from 120 to 240 is a way smaller jump, and usually at big costs. But it does work well in very competitive games and you can certainly feel the difference in something like csgo. But that's very specific cases, unlike 120 that just feels better than 60 all around.

psy guy Jeff Grubb already talking about diminishing returns is probably not a great sign for the xbox launch.
