Edit: Again if this port is so great just show the damn thing. If it is a huge difference people will move on (my guess is that it isn't a huge improvement outside of resolution and framerate). Also it is super weird that they aren’t selling it separately.

Higher res textures, increased resolution, option for 60 fps mode, increased draw distance. It's not no effort, but it's not worth paying for the same game again when third parties and their direct competitor are doing that sort of stuff for free.

Completely redone character models for cast and NPCs with their new scanning and hair tech upgrades.
Redone art is not just higher res textures
Improved facial animation
Ray tracing
Higher traffic and pedestrian density
Better weather
Basically everything redone for Miles was done for the original game. It's still no excuse when CDPR hired Saber to overhaul the Witcher 3,which will be free for existing owners and especially because all these upgrades were done in service for Miles, getting Spidey Remastered for free would have been nice.
The "basic" improvements you listed(upres, fps, texture res) is more in line with XGS and Ubisoft's updates because they're essentially just enabling PC version settings for the most part.
What the outrage should be directed towards is if they did all that to update OG Spidey but couldn't be bothered to patch the original game to unlock the fps so it could at least be played at 60fps via BC boost.
Showing a trailer or screenshots would have went long way tho

It pretends games without Smart Delivery don’t exist, for starters, and induces a belief that the process is more complicated on competing hardware, which it isn’t. Relies on false equivalence(Spider-Man Remaster) and to top it all it explores pent up anger from fanboys by alluding to.... a 7 year old video that again, is in no way shape or form an equivalent.
It’s not a big surprise as they have been increasingly exploring the tribalistic nature of game fanboys on social media. Worth noting that most of Xbox fans are white and English speaking, mostly buy competitive shooters, and tend to be more... right leaning.

edit: and also I would expect they have a large number of higher resolution assets that were scaled down for the PS4. ”Many of the game’s art assets have been completely updated” I wouldn’t interpret as an artist recreating something from scratch. Why would you do that if it wasn’t necessary.

This Nier game is just a remake of the old one? As much as I enjoyed the story and music, I don't know that I can sit through his ideas with combat even more basic than Automata. Platinum barely made 9S playable...

Bungie are doing 'smart delivery' for Destiny 2 Beyond Light - but they are doing the same thing for free on PS4-PS5.
Its just a free next-gen update and is at the discretion of devs and pubs - there will be no smart delivery for COD and Madden but the gotcha tweet wont tell you that.
