Mgs3 is great, but Mgs2 is amazing. Let's keep the monthly mgs discussion going

MGS 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 > Rest of them

1 > 2 > 3 > why talk about the rest

mgs3 blew me away. i was worried when the first hour turned out to be a sokolov cut scene, but then the game starts and i do believe that the series' gameplay peaked with it. the game is one gigantic crescendo; it just keeps getting better and better.

subsistence is how that game should be played. the third person camera changes everything. switch back to the old camera when you're in a building or a narrow space.

mgs1 still holds up after almost two decades--probably because the gameplay is so simple but works so well. and it is proof that art-direction is more important than graphics.

mgs2, though... goddammit. what a fucking game. the switch. the twists. the patriots. the greatest handshake in video game history. and then you arrive at the end and hear otacon say "the patriots died a hundred years ago." mind-blowing.

i finished that game on a saturday morning. what a saturday morning it was.

mgs2 > mgs3 > mgs1.

but they're all 10/10s.

i feel regret for never having played rising yurt.

I stopped playing Rising at the last boss. It's not that I even got stuck on him, I just had to go out to eat half way through and I never bothered to go back and kill him... Good excuse to replay it one day I suppose. Great game though.
