By Scum Go To PostWell, EA Play is part of Xbox Ultimate now so I guess I will do the 10h trial there.
There isn't going to be a single football demo this year, Konami also hasn't released a demo for their standalone Update game because it's exactly the same game as last year but with new kits, transfers and a new soundtrack.
By cRrusheR Go To PostStill gutted about Zenimax deal. It’s off putting to see how MS can spend so much money.Obsidian and inXile get to make big budget rpgs. That alone should instil in you a feeling of content, gratitude and cosmic peace.
Bottom line, we all win. Some more than others, certainly, but still.

XBOX took a hell of a beating this gen - even the switch beat it to a pulp and that thing is a port machine.
Phil's reaction is extreme - I am curious how they look to make back 8 billion dollars by giving away 100 million AAA games for 5 bucks a month.

Microsoft today reported earnings for its fourth fiscal quarter of 2020, including revenue up 13% to $38.0 billion, net income of $11.2 billion, and earnings per share of $1.46 (compared to revenue of $33.7 billion, net income of $13.2 billion, and earnings per share of $1.71 in Q4
Microsoft currently has the largest cash pile at $136.6 billion as of last quarter, according to estimates from FactSet. Berkshire Hathaway, Alphabet and Apple occupy the other top spots, with $128.2 billion, $121.2 billion, and $100.6 billion, respectively.
lots of "concern" there bold
it's nothing. they wired it to bethesda in cash
they'll get it back in a month.
phil didn't want to. but yall left him no choice but to open the warchest
I was referring to the Xbox division - we know MS the parent entity is flushed with cash
But they will need to make a return on their investments eventually.
I am currently studying for a finance paper for late this year and the numbers just arent adding up.

GP is $10-$15 a month, not $5 or $1
Xbox division has operated a loss for a long time, that's not going to change. Mindshare, etc. are as valuable to them. They want to do a Netflix long term, not just sell boxes anymore.

sony out here bleeding on hardware to the point of raising game and controller prices to $70. you really hate to see it.
The Xbox Wireless Controllers in Carbon Black, Robot White, Shock Blue, the PC controller bundles, and the Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable will be available beginning November 10 in nearly all Xbox markets worldwide. We’ve worked hard to give you improved controller features and experiences at the same $59.99 USD starting price as our previous controller

Really? It doesn’t seem overly complicated. They get that ROI by building subscribers, which they look to do rapidly by overdelivering relative the the subscription price. When you deliver exceptional value you tend to get more promotion from your customers, which brings in more subscribers and as I understand it is supposed to be a lot more effective than other forms of advertising. I imagine that’s why a lot of companies are obsessed with NPS and such.
There’s a balance to be had between adding content and growing the subscription base, but I would think they’re not at the point yet where they can rely on existing subscribers to cover the cost of the service.
edit: And then need these studios to create content for the service, otherwise they rely on making deals with developers/publishers which I imagine is a riskier long term strategy. So they’re not going to start shutting down studios any time soon.

Companies normally undertake investment appraisal before committing to capital investment.
Estimation of future costs and benefits over the project life, particularly forecasting of revenues, savings and costs. Forecasting should be as reliable as possible. The assumptions on which the forecasts are based should be stated clearly, so they can be assessed and approved by the senior management working on behalf of the shareholders. Gamepass has been live for a couple of years so they would know how long they can persist for before a return is expected from investors.
-Assessment of expected returns, compared with the expenditure or investments made.
The initial capital cost of a project could include any of the following:
-the purchase cost of non-current assets (development studios)
-realisable value of existing assets to be used in the project (maintenance cost of maintaining the devs - expanding increasing salaries)
-investment in working capital (new projects and games)
-capitalised research and development expenditure.
- Expected losses from players who would have put down 70 trumps per head.
A project is accepted when it pays back the original investment within the specified time period or a target period. The company must therefore set a target payback period. The target payback period for Gamepass will depend on the point they intend to jack up the price.
This is just one of many models under Accepted Rate of Return.
You would need to know the average amount of people are subbed per month and then the number of subs would be required meet the return in a reasonable amount of time.
There is a belief that the upfront investment is the stopping point of cash outflows - this is not the case. Opportunity costs are huge here.
Call it "concern" all you want but I would legit want to see the projections models being used as opposed to just straight-up eating costs because they can.

Subscriptions like these are a scale pitch, and I just can't see people picking up GP the same way they do Netflix and Spotify, both of which are likely still not profitable with a probably lower cost for content.

Maybe they eventually hit the mobile crowd really well, it just feels unlikely to me, but then they've probably done their research

SMT Apocalypse - hard mode. so listen I like SMT bosses more than anything but 65+ boss fights in one game fucking fuck me
overall, I'd say that was pretty fucking good! What an odd game tho from start to finish...a remix of 4's story but with Persona characters. And three fake endings lmao like WHY
but hey it has THE best JRPG combat system I've played so far, they fine tuned Press Turn to perfection, the addition of 'Partners' and Smirk is just huge as far as tactics go. I wouldn't mind if they carry over to 5! FUNNNN
anyway, my 3DS is running out of space....so I've gotta say goodbye to my babies for good ;_;
