this was obviously in the works for a while, like a year+. hard to gauge what's gonna happen re multiplats since we've never seen an acquisition on this scale--sony's insomniac deal was seen as huge and that's absolutely miniscule compared to this lol
don't think sony will change up their current strategy too much of targeting mid-tier devs (bluepoint and housemarque seem like the obvious gets)

Bethesada were hardly impressive in terms of output or stability in any case, and delivering a tiny number of big titles in 5+ years is not going to do anything to impact the direction of the next generation. Unless Microsoft can show that they can consistently produce titles of a good quality and appealing to the general public, Sony will remain confident in their software advantage.

Case by case basis definitely reads "lol, no"

Series S is cheap so at least those wanting to play Arkane/Bethesda/iD games going forward won’t have to spend a ton if they don’t want to go the XCloud route.

By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostGuess I'm getting that 3080. LmaoWhy compromise and not go for the 3090?
By Smokey Go To Postsony won't be concerned about elder scrolls/fallout/doom etc being owned by their competitorHalo was one of the biggest franchises in gaming history, but when Microsoft can't do anything except Halo Infinite, no one is going to care. Since 2014 Bethesda put out the awful Fallout 4, bunch of Skyrim re-releases, and ESO, what on earth would make you believe they can start putting out Elder Scrolls or Fallout titles consistently to a quality that won't Fable the franchises?
lol
By jjasper Go To PostBasically if we can make it work on the switch then maybe at some pointYeah, but even then, the only game Microsoft has actually published on Switch is Ori. It won't be the bigger, more marquee games that go to other consoles.
By Yurtlicious Go To Post$1,500 for 3090 what the fuck ?It's the uss flagg of video cards. Broke boys need not apply
By JesalR Go To PostAt some point the question of why not is only really answered with pettiness. Sony has EA Play, they'll probably allow other publishers to set up subscription services too. Assuming they can take their 30% cut, it's bad business not to in my opinion.Have to imagine if MS got out of the hardware game Sony and Nintendo wouldn’t mind getting GamePass.
All of this is especially true if MS continues to hoover up devs, and doubly so if they get any more huge IPs like they've done here
By rodeoclown Go To PostYeah, but even then, the only game Microsoft has actually published on Switch is Ori. It won't be the bigger, more marquee games that go to other consoles.Bethesda has put out some pretty decent ports so I could see some of them making their way over there.
By aka Espi Go To PostI just wanna say fuck MicrosoftTBF Microsoft were desperate to buy Bioware, but the Doctors were like, lol no, we want EA for $1B pls
I get for whatever reason that Bethesda games are popular, but why couldn’t you buy BioWare a decade ago
Forever robbed me of a real Mass Effect 2 and 3.
Then they retired into the sunset after the fiascos of DA2 and ME3
By rodeoclown Go To PostYeah, but even then, the only game Microsoft has actually published on Switch is Ori. It won't be the bigger, more marquee games that go to other consoles.minecraft and minecraft dungeons.
not like they have a whole lot besides Minecraft and Ori that would work on switch anyway.
By inky Go To PostConsole lads love exclusives, so this is good, right?I will say a after a generation of the Xbox basically being a Playstation but with less games it is nice that there is an actual reason to own the console again.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostGuess I'm getting that 3080. LmaoGiven the the current state of things, good luck even putting a pre-order in.
That's the biggest surprise of this. No 'insiders'''' knew about it or even heard rumors.

Getting bethesda is immense. For me I'll only miss the Fallout games, zero interest on the other games from them. But for those that enjoy the rest, rip.

Gamepass has been amazing value for 3-4 years and has never really moved the needle.
If MS can buy out all the 3rd parties and it looks like they can - then they will see penetration outside of the anglo-sphere for the rest of the word - they would still struggle with mindshare.
