I wonder if, and in what capacity, summons/espers and materia will play a roll, in the combat. Looks like Phoenix, going off of the story trailer. Can't tell what the green is. Tetra Sylphid? Definitely not Siren or Carbuncle.

Good thing you can cold store em on HDds
By diehard Go To Postdisappointing after the hype about kraken and asset deduplicationIm not sure that was ever about smaller install size. But a small increase in size over current games even with the increase in asset quality.
It's another example of how the SSD could prove transformative to next-gen titles. The install size of a game will be more optimal because duplication isn't needed; those trash bags only need to exist once on the SSD - not hundreds or thousands of times - and would never need to be resident in RAM. They will load with latency and transfer speeds that are a couple of orders of magnitude faster, meaning a 'just in time' approach to data delivery with less caching.=

By Eternity Go To PostDemons - 66GBWould guess, but I would have assumed you'd have a lot of assets shared between the two. Apparently they are keeping the installs completely separated.

But the TBW of those SSDs!
Lol
I think the more dangerous implication might be overall size of games. I'm really interested to find out how big the first UE5 game with uncompressed zBrush assets going to be.
Funny enough: I expect PS4 size to be identical for most cross gen games which would mean the 15 minute Cerny lecture on new compression libraries, wouldn't be in effect yet.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhat's tbw in ssd termsTerabytes written. NAND has limited program/erase cycles (total data written, basically) and its borderline black magic determining how much that will be. If i had to take a guess the PS5 would be rated somewhere in the range of 400-700 terabytes. It won't really be an issue for a game console.
Depends on how they use the drives I suppose. Given the Xbox is constantly shunting game state off to the drive when you switch games it could start racking up the writes
60 GB for Demons Souls actually sounds promising. Was expecting 100GB.

I was surprised that the alpha included Warzone as selectable mode. Selecting it would open the PS Store to Warzone, but considering this fact and that these games run on different engines, means that Cold War install + Warzone is probably at least going to be around 170GB initially. Warzone alone is already 100GB and zombies, multiplayer and the trillion map packs and addons will let it bloat up easily to a QUARTER of your SSD.

And ugly
At most I'd have rocket league, fall guys, fifa and 1 single player game. And that wouldn't be 150gb.
Even if you play 3 multiplayer games and 5 single player games at once(unlikely) I doubt that would fill the ssd anyway

For those without fast internet, it’s just really inconvenient to delete and re-downnload games as a necessity.
It takes me about 5 hours to download a 40-50GB game, basically all day for those 90-110GB games, so I always keep the latter games installed even if I play them infrequently.

I bought a 4TB external drive for my Xbox and I have about 80 games installed right now.

By Yurtlicious Go To Postgo physical thenDefinitely not a perfect solution. For instance, putting the Halo MCC disc in your Xbox now prompts a 100 gig download. There's a lot of instances of there being nothing on the disc, too, where the Xbox only installs a tiny key off the disc and pulls the actual game as a download.
By Yurtlicious Go To Postgo physical thenI chose the third option. More storage.
By Laboured Go To PostCan someone explain why those install sizes say "minimum"?no idea, probably + save files etc.
For example TLOU2 was said to be 100GB minimum, but the final file size is around 77GB. GoT 's minimum file size is 50gb, but the final size is 34 Gb.

games should become slightly smaller at least for a short while. the old consoles having super shitty drives meant you had to store files multiple times to reduce access speed.
By Laboured Go To PostCan someone explain why those install sizes say "minimum"?Possibly due to the download being compressed, then decompressed to a larger size when installed.
i wonder
or to reserve space for future (mandatory) patches/updates?

Xbox Series S runs original Xbox games and enhanced 360 games at 1440p. Plus, the console adds HDR to all back compat titles and select Xbox One games will run at double the frame rate.
Some of the enhanced 360 stuff is tremendous. Games like Final Fantasy XIII, Red Dead Redemption and Gears 3 looks stunning. Happy this is all carrying over into next-gen.

I replaced my PS4 HDD with a 2TB SSHD for storage. I may take that 2TB SSHD out and slap a case on it and use that for external storage. Would I even need to reformat since it was already being used in PS hardware?
