It would be easy to think that Microsoft’s veritable army of developers would be targeting the Series X’s launch day. But Booty agrees with us when we propose that this will be a very different kind of console launch, with first-party games being compatible across all Microsoft’s hardware, existing and new, ending the usual platform reset we’ve seen in the past with such launches.
“As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices,” Booty explains. “We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we’re committed to them with content.”

Hmm, not sure if that is a good thing.
By Kawhic Go To Posti too will be surprised when the cheaper device that's like 1/20th the size of an xbox series x and runs on a battery will not be remotely as powerful.
Patheticuuuuuuuuuu~
wouldn't really make sense otherwise with the strategy they are going for. they just want you to buy a sub.
I love my Xbox One X but unless Sony really fucks it up, I'm going PS5 at launch so I am fine with that strategy.
either the ps5 or the series x are going to be the first console i'm not buying at launch since the n64 came out.
By Not Go To PostThanks to Alienware for showing us that a powerful Switch would in fact look incredibly shittyDo we think a non-powerful switch looks good?
By Not Go To PostThanks to Alienware for showing us that a powerful Switch would in fact look incredibly shittyThe original Switch could have been more powerful and had a better battery if they had used the then available Tegra X2.
By LFMartins86 Go To Posthttps://www.mcvuk.com/we-need-to-deliver-on-the-promises-that-we-make-xbox-game-studios-matt-booty-on-the-future-of-xbox/I don't think it really matters all that much. They did the same thing for the first two years of the Xbox One. There were Xbox 360 versions of Titanfall, Zoo Tycoon, Forza Horizon 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider, etc.
Hmm, not sure if that is a good thing.
I guess I think of it like how Microsoft handled the One X: their internal developers target One X spec and then port down. Halo Infinite is targeting Series X, which is why the Xbox One version of that game is basically a footnote and why they're never going to show it.
it'll be a few years before devs start trying things that can't be done on current gen anyway, locking early gen games behind new consoles is a shitty move that just exists to shift units
By LFMartins86 Go To Posthttps://www.mcvuk.com/we-need-to-deliver-on-the-promises-that-we-make-xbox-game-studios-matt-booty-on-the-future-of-xbox/well, it's a thing that only xbox fans will start defending about for sure.
Hmm, not sure if that is a good thing.
also we have data from this gen that sales for last gen games drastically dropped after next gen games come out, but MS gotta support Game Pass.
By Kawhic Go To Postthe X2 has only been used for cars and a scam.nobody wants to deal with Nvidia.
By rerixo Go To Postit'll be a few years before devs start trying things that can't be done on current gen anyway, locking early gen games behind new consoles is a shitty move that just exists to shift unitsAnd a lot of Microsoft's internal studios won't even be affected by this since a lot of what they have is 2022+. There won't be Xbox One versions of Hellblade 2, Fable, the new State of Decay, etc. It's Halo and a handful of other things they'll have that first year (Everwild).
Imagine thinking its console warring when it's just stating what we know from sales early this gen. I was so happy when games stopped being cross platform.
But it's Auto I guess.

Actually looking forward to the Switch Pro though, and but it's more realising that the Switch cant even hold a steady framerate for indies now.
and I kinda love roguelikes atm. Dead Cells was great. Trying to find something else like it to pass up the time.

I love E3 conferences when done well.
I kind of miss the e3 excitement as well. but when is the last time sony or ms have done an e3 conference well though? i honestly cant remember. only conferences that have been fun in recent years have been those genital jousting lads

I actually bought Dead Cells on Steam later
XSX at launch. Son will be blessed with my One X. Three platforms in the house in the same ecosystem, ez.
Will wait for the PS5 Pro

Not alot of talking, but still enough room to breath and have a smaller break. They weren't too long either.
2015 was great in terms of announcements for me personally with Shenmue, Last Guardian and FF7, but the structure wasn't as good as the following years.
Think MS also started to do better over the last two years, but they've overloaded it and structured it not that well.
Overall those conferences are far better when there's barely any talk and the games take the focus. Obviously personal taste will matter alot with the announcements itself, but I think they were doing well.
Sony 2018 was fucking shit. They had good games, but the format was terrible. I'm actually a huge fan of musical performances, whenever it's an orchestra like in 2016 at Sony that basically played the trailer music or the individual performances like 2018, but switching locations? Performances that are so damn long?
No Sir, I don't like it.
Also the PSX conference with TLOU2 unveiling was also done rather well.
Ubisoft is solid nearly every year, especially when Trey Parker was on there. Exception is the Just Dance part and the talking segments.
At least they're not as cringe as Bethesda with their screaming "fans".
Microsoft needs to get back to doing stage demos. They need to open E3 with somebody actually playing Halo Infinite for 10 minutes.
sony/ms started getting the right idea with format towards the end of the gen (excluding sony 2018 meme performance), fans were asking for this format format of constant trailers for years, but they're still bound to be boring because of no cool announcements coming at the end of a gen. next 2-3 years of e3 should be hype
Don't know what's worse, hitting your kids or condemning them the to a box that does max 60fps in some cases.

Giving you kid an xbox should qualify for child abuse.

Oh god no. Nothing worse than doing long demos in a press conference. Just do it like nintendo and have gameplay after.
And i case od Infinite i suspect that showing as little as possible is the way to go.

Did anyone play Phoenix Point? I subbed to game pass to play Forza Horizon 4 and decided to install and I see it's rated 2.1/5

ok cancelled that installation. it was about half done
Wasteland 3 doesn't come out for another 6 months and it has a 3.2/5 rating. Why are you even allowed to rate a game that isn't out

By inky Go To PostDidn't realize Frost Punk made it to gamepass. Might give it a try. It's pretty cool 👌
Frost Punk is pretty fucking cool. Probably not a game I will remember in 10 years, but certainly enjoyed what I played of it.
