By n8 dogg Go To PostTried to read Dune like six or seven times now. Absolutely cannot get into it.i actually watched the sci-fi channel miniseries first then went back and read it years later
there's no version of dune that's exciting. its great stuff but it makes arthur c clarke's rama series look like fast 7
By sy Go To PostI keep forgetting dy thought annihilation was gr8
I mean it’s not bad but 2049 shits all over it. I usually agree with DY in sci fi too. Dude is an expanse fan

did the whole "maybe i'm not the protagonist" thing a hell of a lot better than br2049 did too
the amount of weird scenes in br2049 will never stop throwing me off. ziploc person, protein farmer, prostitute soliciting, everything in vegas... so many things don't hit right or as good as they should've

To each their own, I loved just about the entire thing /shrug.
Don’t get me wrong btw, annihilation is good, I own it! Also a good looking movie too.

lmao reminds me of my flight to DC before quarantine. the girl next to me was reading it so she could get familiar before the movie and i asked her if it was worth the time since she was about 3/4 through it. "honestly it's really not"
I was planning to read it on my flights to and from NYC but unfortunately the book is back in SF and decided to fly out from Portland instead.
The original Blade Runner is dog shit. It wholly survives off its setting. That's it.
You want some noir, watch The Big Sleep or Sorry Wrong number.
Want some good Harrison Ford? Watch Clear and Present Danger. That's a fucking film.

what cut did you watch? the final cut is phenomenal.
also: the fugitive is a classic. my favourite ford movie.

By sy Go To PostWatched the trailer while driving but man Villeneuve's last few movies have had awful trailers.Yeah, i thought it looked bad
Doesn't mean the movie will suck. It just means Trailer Park are shit at their jobs like usual
Are people really going to argue that a cut with a couple of minutes of more footage and a different ending completely changes a movie from mediocre to stellar? Seriously?
The original Blade Runner is amazing for it's setting and style. But the actual minute by minute movie is... well eh. And if you don't like the 80s aesthetics it's going to put you off.
P.S.: That Dune trailer looked like an incoherent mess. Best thing that came out of that dreadful book is Westwood's RTS classic Dune II - Battle for Arakis.

#Alive was pretty fun. Nothing special but its pacing and inventive camerawork kept it going for a brisk 98 mins.

I saw mulan karate kick an arrow back at someone and it's been the first time I realized how much I missed going to the theaters to see this stupid kind of shit with my friends

The terrible acting, production work and we were just laughing at all of it, at the expense of the women around us.
By Punished* Go To PostI hear the book is good.I just googled and it seems you are thinking of a completely different film, lol
By Xpike Go To Postdean did you watch a film about airplane crash survivors y/nn
I know nothing about Dune but that seemed like it could be pretty good, the lady in the trailer made me think it was tilda swinton cause it reminded me of how she played the ancient one, stacked cast either way though

Has high tech, low tech, and magic fighting against each other and noble houses feuding. Throw in some class warfare on top and you have Dune.
Just watched the trailer for Lynch's Dune. Is it safe to say Star Wars had a major influence on that one in 84?

Dune isn't Dune without putting you to sleep.

I'm watching the Equalizer for the first time and Denzel proves that a great actor with tons of charisma can carry the worst of movies. I don't even know if this is a bad movie because denzel has been in every scene.

That was the most surprising sequel announcement of the last few years. I was legit stunned. Must have cost 25M for Denzel and 5M for the entire rest of the production to shoot that movie.
