First Blade Runner is a bonafide masterpiece and one of the greatest sci-fis of all-time, second is just okay. The second one has a better soundtrack.

first one has great atmosphere but the movie falls way short.
i only watched the movie a few weeks before BR2049 came out and i feel like it's one of those movies you can't fully appreciate if you didn't see it when it came out.
the book is really good tho.

By Daz Go To PostBR 2049 is superior to the original in almost every way.MASTERPIECE
It's a good theater experience
My friend was snoring on and off throughout, despite the loudest soundtrack of all time. He was working two jobs tho

2049 is too long, which is something a lot of movies nowadays suffer from. and i didn't care for ford's character making a comeback.
it is a good 7/10.

you only need two white woman as heads of any of those departments:
"Casting Director, Cinematographer, Composer, Costume Designer, Director, Editor, Hairstylist, Makeup Artist, Producer, Production Designer, Set Decorator, Sound, VFX Supervisor, Writer"
and give white woman a paid internship.
that's it. every single movie on earth can pass this without changing anything. obviously people are going to react to this like you can't make movies like Irishman anymore but even that easily passes this test lol.

By DiPro Go To Postyou have it the wrong way around.Falls short of what, your own expectations? Who cares? The film is a classic by just about every metric regardless of what you think. *shrugs*

oh and here i thought i was the lone authority that can decide if a movie is good or not. i see, i was wrong.

There’s one, maybe two good performances. The script is lifeless pseudo-psychological dribble. There’s no humour (which the source text has an abundance of), a deathly dull spell for about an hour in the middle any time Hauer’s not on screen...
looks and sounds good tho

Thanks for putting in actual effort and telling me why you don't like it. I can't say I don't agree with what you said but those exact reasons are why I love the film.

Y'all need to be appreciative, though. There's pretty much a straight line from Blade Runner to your favourite 90's-and-onward scifi films.
By bud Go To Postgattaca is one of my favourite sci-fi films.Only seen it once but I loved it. I need to see that + Dark City again.
Fun fact but both Gattaca and Blade Runner had a scene shot in the 2nd Street Tunnel, which is used pretty often in scifi films.
The tunnel has appeared in many movies, including The Terminal Man (1974), The Driver (1978), When a Stranger Calls (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Flashdance (1983), The Terminator (1984), Repo Man (1984), Rocky IV (1985), Lethal Weapon 2 (1989), Sneakers (1992), Deep Cover (1992), Demolition Man (1993), Money Talks (1997), Con Air (1997), Gattaca (1997), Enemy of the State (1998), Independence Day (1996), Kill Bill (2003), Transformers (2007), Black November (2012), and Knight of Cups (2015).
By Daz Go To PostThe only film makers doing interesting work with ScI Fi are in the Indie Scene.No.
By n8 dogg Go To PostLooks pretty good. Bit cheesy, but that’s always the nature of fantasy sci-fi.
Compared to Lynch’s version this looks downright dramatic lmao
By DY_nasty Go To Postdune looks incredibleMore action in that trailer than all of the Nolan Batmans combined
but denis specializes in making incredible looking trips to the dmv
By reilo Go To PostMore action in that trailer than all of the Nolan Batmans combinedbetween the two of them im just bleh
at least nolan can do tension some of the time

idk why blade runner 2049 not being full of action is a negative
film is amazing as it is, slow in the right way, unlike the og blade runner which makes me want to sleep

but dune is boring by default. denis of all people on top of it? i fully expect good sleep and amazing shots between naps
By Xpike Go To Postidk why blade runner 2049 not being full of action is a negativeyou can be slow and have tension which is the opposite of what blade runner did. most of the time they presented conflict i couldn't wait for it to end

the cop getting her hand crushed while holding a glass is the high point of that movie imo. and it didn't require millions to shoot
The original and 2049 are both Sci-Fi detective thrillers, not action movies -- Sci-Fi noir, if I were to pin it down. They have more in common with Fincher's style of movies than Cameron's.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyou can be slow and have tension which is the opposite of what blade runner did. most of the time they presented conflict i couldn't wait for it to endI personally found the climax fight as the car was sinking to be extremely thrilling -- and again, a bit of that credit goes to Zimmer's score during those moments.
