By reilo Go To PostAll the live action Disney remakes have been trash
Nah jungle book is good
Watched the Lion King remake the other day and it was so similar to the original cartoon that it felt pointless. Some of the voice acting didnt suite the visuals and it took you right out of the film. I wouldnt have been surprised if Beyonce was just reading the lines for the first time as she didnt attempt to act like her character.
Also they should have used that "lives in you" song from the musical but instead they had to shoehorn in her shit new single.

I've only seen Mulan and Maleficent of the live action remakes, but both are comfortably amongst the worst films I've ever seen, as bad as Transformers 2 or Xmen origins wolverine
Yeah, if you guys haven’t seen Pete’s Dragon, give that a go. By David Lowery, of A Ghost Story fame.

i'd rather watch that one again than Tenet for sure.

I actually think the Branagh Cinderella is solid, but it's also one of the few of these cynical remakes I've actually seen.
Tenet nearly at 150M$ worldwide. It's looking like a 20M$ domestic OW, 30M$ OW in China. It did 50M$ last weekend internationally.
Interested to see how it does in the long run, it still has a very long way to go until it becomes profitable.

By Xpike Go To Postbet you it wouldve done ten times that if they wouldve released on VOD at the same timeIt wouldn't. It would definitely break piracy records though.
Picked a few $1 Blu-rays up this weekend.
I watched Patriot Games and Take This Waltz last night.
Hadn't seen Patriot Games in a lot of years and forgot Sean Bean and Sam Jackson were in it. Not the worst but definitely the weakest of the first three Jack Ryan films. Hunt for Red October easily the best, but I probably need to watch it again. Do think Ford is the best Ryan though. Going to watch Clear and Present Danger tonight I think.
Waltz was fine for what it was. Nicely shot and paced story about how quickly a marriage can become mundane and how your head can be turned easily by something as simple as being new. Like everyone involved in the casting in this one. Luke Kirby is wonderful in everything.

By n8 dogg Go To PostI’m Thinking of Ending ThingsIs his hate real or not, that is the question.
Why does Charlie Kaufman hate being alive so much?
Gonna give it a go within the next few days.
I'm on a bit of a Carpenter trip today and watched a few of my favorites from him.
Prince of Darkness, Big Trouble in Little China, In the Mouth of Madness and They Live.

100% his hate is real, lol. This is the work of sheer existential anxiety.
Easily his least accessible film, but there’s enough of a thread that it’s still readable what its themes and plot are. Great lead performances, a really ominous atmosphere. Could have done without some of its cultural references, too esoteric and only make sense post-watch, but a good movie. 4/5

You know what you'll get with Kaufman. When I was still in school I gave one of my teachers my Synecdoche blu-ray. She couldn't handle more than 60 minutes of it.
Speaking of Synecdoche, it's more accessible than I'm thinking of ending things?
Lmao. It's gonna be a wild ride.
By n8 dogg Go To Post100% his hate is real, lol. This is the work of sheer existential anxiety.Yep. The car scene was a tad too long and the dialogue got too esoteric.

He could have thrown a couple of more clues to the audience to make it easier to follow, you get absolutely lost at moments
I haven’t seen everything he’s written, but I wouldn’t give BJM, Adaptation, ESotSM, Anomalisa or this any less than 4 stars. He’s very good.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostI get the feeling that this might be Villeneuve‘s first flopCommercially? Nah BR2049 flopped.
Critically? Shut your whore mouth
Mulan is pure garbage lol. I don't even want to know how much money they claim to have spent on it because I didn't see any of it on my screen.

By DiPro Go To PostBR2049 probably did okay when all is done but yeah certainly not the ROI you want.260M$ on a 150M$ (at best, could be as high as 185M$) budget it's not okay, it´s nowhere near of breaking even.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostEnemy only made $3.4m and I’m sure it cost more than that.No one expects these international co-productions of indie films to make money though.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostEnemy only made $3.4m and I’m sure it cost more than that.Probably cost less than half of that to film since it was shot around the suburbs of Toronto.
But now that Tenet finally has made its domestic debut, the consensus is … uh, meh? The film grossed around $20 million over Labor Day weekendI'm glad Nolan wanted to kill his fans so he can make almost no money.
By Laboured Go To PostalllaaaaahhhhhhhhHopefully it's not as mind numbingly boring as the original.
By reilo Go To PostI'm glad Nolan wanted to kill his fans so he can make almost no money. That's 20M in a 11 day weekend because WB is counting with Canada's numbers since it opened the week before, so it's more of a 14M$ OW.
Oh yeah watched Bill and Ted 3, it was a nice little movie. It's weird how it kind of has no ending tho.
Was just nice to see something new during quarantine

I didn't know Ghibli assisted on this but I watched it a couple years ago. Really good, really beautifully animated.
Some shots may fool you but no rotoscoping was used. turtles are cg tho.

BR2049 is as overrated as the original. It's not per se bad, but it's a quite hollow experience that just happens in front of you. You don't feel engaged you don't care about the characters, the movie is moving at a snails pace from one pretty shot to the next culminating in one the most low key cinematic climax showdowns that I've witnessed in the last decade. And before you know it any recollection of anything exciting in the movie is gone, like yawns of a snoring man.
