It’s like a 4/5 out of 10. There’s enough craft on a spectacle level so it isn’t full on boring, there’s a few decent performances (Pattinson is fun, Washington shows more charisma than I’ve seen from him before), there’s a few scenes where plot is clear, but otherwise it’s convoluted, inconsistent, dull in action and intention, with a mindblowingly incoherent last act.
Disappointing. He needs reining in. Again, I’m a big fan of the boy. Love inception. Love interstellar. Love dunkirk.
This. No.
All three of us mad confused, mad disappointed. Big sighs. Luckily the wings and dim sum made up for it.

is this timothy lad actually good? getting a pretty-but-not-actually-a-good-actor vibe from him. he seems low on energy.

Pattinson is the only good thing about the movie. i just like watching him.
Debicki's character is downright insulting.

I think he was outstanding in Call Me By Your Name, and good fun in both Lady Bird and Little Women. Interesting to see where his adult career goes because he definitely plays a specific type. But if you haven’t seen CMBYN, please do. Wonderful movie.

same. i would happily die for popstar never stop never stopping. but not this.
Temporal pincer my asshole
Anybody saying Tenet is convoluted is a bit dense. It's not that complicated. There is only an in my opinion unresolved time paradox, but other than that it's pretty straight forward.

It’s incoherent storywise and spatially. Last half hour is fucking chutney.
the overall plot isn't that hard to grasp (even if it doesn't make a lot of sense) but in the actual scenes you mostly have no clue what's going on.
At risk of sounding dense, I still don’t understand how you fight someone that’s moving in a different direction through time.
It just doesn’t make sense to me. Your end of the fight is their start of the fight. What

To me the film is like watching someone walk up the penrose steps. When you see it happening you can describe it in enough detail to trick yourself into thinking you know what’s going on. But you don’t really understand it. And the reason for that is because it’s not possible to understand it. Because it doesn’t make sense.
Watched Darjeeling Limited tonight and yup, Wes Anderson still blows. Somehow even more orientalist than Isle of Dogs’ “Japan as an aesthetic”.
Just watched The Assassination of Jesse James again.
2007 had fucking awesome films in nearly every genre.

Suspension of disbelief bungie. It makes as much sense as Marty McFly slowly disappearing or a Death Star shooting entire star systems of the galaxy map with planets lightyears apart of each other - though somehow people can see the event happening by watching the sky or out of a space ship window.
The mechanics of time travel or light speed never make any sense in movies.
I'd rather knock the movie for actually not being surprising at all. It moves at a blistering pace and if you can't keep up you might get lost in the details. I took a quick 3 minute piss while Patman was giving a physics lesson on the way to Oslo. But all the "reveals" and mysteries are rather obvious. And the 3rd act looked not as specular as it could have. Maybe Nolan should have done a bit more with CG crowds and effects. Would have been easier than letting crowds of extras move backwards as if they are running forwards.
The physical "how" in terms of the McGuffins is an irrelevant question for the comprehension of the movie imho. Like in most other films - it makes no sense and opens a shitload of consistency and logic errors.
How can you move backwards in time, and not see yourself tend to a wound you haven't received yet or feel a punch you haven't received? Does it even make sense to punch someone moving opposite in time?
All legit questions. But not having them answered doesn't really hamper your comprehension of the overall plot.
Long story short: you are not dense - you did understand it. You just didn't understand the physics behind it.
By sy Go To Postone of the most overrated films everDoesn't really clarify whether that means it's bad or good though
Always happens to these Break-away hits that were never made with sequels in mind.
Same thing happened to Rec.

By Laboured Go To PostWell, Train to Busan 2 was extremely bad.No suprise.
That's exactly the type of movie that didn't need a sequel.
Speaking of korean zombie flicks, there's the one called #Alive that is coming to Netflix later this year. Was quite popular in Korean cinemas despite rona.
By data Go To PostI'm surprised they never did a Shaun of the dead 2Edgar Wright isn't the type of guy who solely does things for cash. Besides they managed to pull of something equally great, if not better with Hot Fuzz.
Saw Tenet today, thought it was a bafflingly incoherent mess tbh. Really wanted to like it, as I've liked all of Nolan's other work. :(
I don’t think it was a total disaster. I was never bored, and there’s a lot of practical craft on display. But narratively, it’s both frustratingly opaque and ludicrously simplistic. The action, editing and cinematography is a step down from Dunkirk, it doesn’t have any of the heart of Interstellar, nor the gonzo spectacle of TDKR. It doesn’t have the ingenuity of Inception or its emotional thread. It doesn’t have an outstanding performance or a thematic coherency like TDK or The Prestige. It doesn’t have the freshness of Begins, the poise of Insomnia, the audacity of Memento. It’s two and a half hours of decent-to-poor action scenes, decent-to-poor acting, and exposition in favour of characterisation to such a degree that it’s almost a parody.
So we’re left with something that is pure, unfiltered Nolan and also the weakest Nolan has been. Love the pureness of his vision; I have a bizarre respect and like for the film just because it’s the exact film he wanted to make: uncompromising, alienating. But it just highlights all his worst qualities. All the things he is bad at as a filmmaker are exposed heavily, and to a greater degree than ever before.
