re: palm springs. that was a super generic movie carried entirely by the leads and jk simmons being good actors
Don’t see this as much different to a cinema tbh. Time to get there, popcorn and drink and it’s fairly equivalent.
yeah, i don’t see the big deal either. if you’re watching it alone, sure, that’s expensive, but it’s a $200m production.
what do you expect?

The cinema experience comes with absolutely amazing screens that are perfectly calibrated for big screen releases + the high quality audio experience. The experience is like 80% of the price for me.
Also I never get food or drinks at the cinema lol fuck that

but they have like 150 million more subs
i obviously prefer the cinema experiences but if movie theaters wouldn't be open i would have no problem paying those prices for a few movies i'm interested in.
but they are open so i'm probably just going there.

Can not stand being in a theatre with others. Only do the $6 matinees and typically see more than one if the timing works out. AMC and Cinemark don't pay enough for their employees to dare ask if I have a ticket once I'm behind the rope.
But $30? Eat a dick. I'll wait for the BD. I have surrounded sound at the crib.

I am not contesting the price. What I think it's bullshit is the fact that you pay 30$ for something and you only "own" it as long as you keep paying your subscription.
That's like if you bought a movie digitally from Amazon but you can only watch it if you keep being subscribed to Amazon Prime.

By n8 dogg Go To PostAgain, I don’t see how that’s much different than going to the cinema.
Look I mean we can't all be extremely handsome and own a 65" LG CX. The cinema does tend to have best in class audio-visual equipment that's been professionally calibrated tbf.
Edit: wait wats wrong with sutton empire
Edit 2: Whoa

No cucumber sauce for the hot dogs, even though advertised, staff not interested when complained about this, slow service too, more interested in comparing notes about boyfriends and plans for the weekend, very poor.

Worst cinema ever.
There is a bald guy with glasses that needs to stop working there, he is a racist man and I hope I never see him again.

The bald guy with glasses is the most miserable cunt on the planet
Again, if I wanted to go cinema here, it’s 12.50 a ticket, then 25 minutes x2 there and back (that’s if I drive, bus is 10/15 mins longer). I’ll inevitably buy a drink and popcorn/nachos because I’m a fat bastard, so that adds on a tenner. And that’s just me paying for myself; think of the families taking 2/3 kids to go see Mulan, or Frozen, or Star Wars. And after two hours you leave and the film isn’t yours to watch again under any circumstances unless you pay the same amount of money.
I love going to the cinema. But it’s an expensive hobby. These movies cost a lot to make, I don’t particularly see that as unreasonable, even taking into account it’s not a permanent purchase.

its essentially the Mulan DLC for Disney +
Hey at least it's $30 to see it as many times as you'd want to see a live action Mulan remake

Just found out some chuckleheads are making a TV series that's a just a prequel to Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. WTF? Who asked for that?
After the success of Bates Motel, Doctor Sleep and things like American Horror Story, probably a lot? There's been a revival in Horror/Thriller genre that squarely falls in lately, and they are probably trying to piggyback off that.
Speaking of AHS, Ratched is by Ryan Murphy, who created AHS, Nip/Tuck, Scream Queens, et al. This is firmly in his wheelhouse.

I'm glad woman directors seem to be moving out of what used to be 5-10 year intervals between managing to convince some asshead to greenlight their projects

John Wick 5 being shot back to back with John Wick 4. Idk I think JW3 pretty much jumped the shark already unfortunately.
Is out of sight one of the sexiest films ever made (made even more sexy by the fact soderbergh doesn’t even show rhe sex)

I've just finished reading 6 and 8 part analyses (by a military historian) of the two major battles in the Lord of the Rings films & books: The Siege of Gondor and the Battle for Helm's Deep.
They are both excellent and I recommend highly. Neither is technically film analysis, but both delve into how the films present highly complex battles successfully so this is probably the best place for them
