Totally OK with that. She's actually a good singer and it will be interesting to see what she does.
Curious fact I read somewhere else, she was 4 years old when Casino Royale was released.

i love him. he’s a great actor. but everyone’s forgetting about pesci.

By bud Go To Postpitt seems to be a lock for the oscar.Pesci was great, but the Academy loves to give Best Actor to very-serious-biographical roles, so giving it to Pitt where he was allowed to show some range and good comedic timing would be my preference.

Also, Joker is the most overrated movie since the Bale Batmans. Doesn't deserve a lick of hype, with the exception of Phoenix's acting.

By AlphaSnacks Go To PostWow. Uncut Gems snubbed entirely?
Academy can eat shit.
It’s completely not a movie they’d go for but in a just world we are looking at noms in...

Sup actor
Sup actress
Original screenplay
Director
Cinematography

Sound editing
This is not a just world
This is an impure world
Anyway, still gotta see the majority of BP noms.

Hoping to see them all by the night, but it’s likely I’ll only have seen a few more.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a joke. Big fan of Tarantino. But the movie had nothing going for it. All that setup, a beautifully designed world, incredible set pieces, interesting acting, etc. The story had potential, but it was 1 hour too long with too much fluff scattered all throughout the movie. There was a lot of buildup to a rather cool ending, but everything in between just felt hollow.
Ford vs. Ferrari was a solid movie, though. I loved it, naturally.
Got The Irishman queued up ready to watch. I'll probably love it.

I did think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a little too self indulgent and scatterbrained. Great performances as usual, it gives you a nice sense of place, but I wouldn't put it up there in top 3 Tarantino movies or anything. It really does say something when even Kill Bill with its 2 movies worth of events feels more economic and purposeful.
Think on second watch when you know the pacing of it really worked for me. Liked it first time. Loved it second time.
Would probably have it between 4-6 in my own QT list, but I like everything he’s ever made. Even Death Proof. Sue me m8s.

I'm a Tarantino stan too but yeah, bottom 3 QT.
mind you, the worst QT movie is still better than most movies out there. #QTsDS2

By bud Go To Postmy only (real) issue is robbie's character.
didn't care for her at all.
I think that may have been intentional. No reason to make you love her since the movie rewrites history of the real events, so there's no reason to make you feel attached or compassionate for Tate. Also, she's a neighbor and neither Cliff nor Rick know her well at all, so all we get are basically glimpses of her lifestyle and that's it. We know about her as much as they do.

I do feel the movie tries to make you feel attached to Sharon, but more to what she symbolizes about that era rather than her character, or lack thereof in this case. It's not a celebration of her as an individual, inasmuch as it is a non-exploitative way to say something about how using movies to rewrite a tragedy into a joyful and a totally hedonistic appreciation of themselves and the industry is fun. Whether anyone is up to that amount of ballfondling as Tarantino is of old Hollywood is up to each one of us I guess.
Or I read it like that anyway.

I think Once Upon a Time ends up being an unfocused movie, that clearly wanted to be more but did not know how to achieve it. Sharon Tate only works if you know what happened to her irl and how the movie subverts history to save her. The whole climax essentially is a comedic skit with no real purpose beyond preventing the Manson murders, almost unrelated to DiCaprio and Pitt completely. There's more about it but it's the only Tarantino movie alongside Django where I've come out with a sour feeling of the movie being less than the sum of its parts

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was pretty lame, and I say this as someone who knows all the references QT put in the film.

By Yurt :3 Go To PostBillie is alrightThe tweet about her looking like she dresses from the gym's lost and found box is maybe the truest tweet of 2019
All Billie has succeeded for me, is making me feel old because I have no fucking clue who she is (though I knew some songs my wife played for me), but I know the fuck out of Van Halen.

Excellent performances, particularly Goggins, Leigh and Jackson; tense as all hell in the second act, love the claustrophobic feel of it. Gorgeous score, wicked fun. Great movie.
it's so ridiculously good. it all happens in this small room, and yet there's so much going on and there's so much tension. and the climax is a true climax; the pay-off is so satisfying.
what a film.
jackson's dicc-succ monologue--and, again, the pay-off--is one of the greatest things qt has ever written.
