FWIW, I did watch Shadow and Portrait of a Woman on Fire on Netflix on my 12.5'' Apple Ipad Pro. was pretty.

I also watched High Life, which is fucking trash, on the Ipad.
Films like Frances Ha and Ladybird are best experienced through the lens of a caucasian so I'd recommend a youtube reaction if you don’t have access to one.

Despite a lineup of A-list writers, David Hayter, who served as Singer's assistant and was answering phones in the production offices for $500 a week, received sole credit.🤨
By Perfect Blue Go To PostLady Bird is pretty damn good but yeah Frances Ha is god awful.

Rewatched The Irishman. Still stunned at its quality. A structural marvel. Last hour is like a fuckin horror movie. Imagine this bitch Marty being 75 and making three masterpieces in a row. Inshallah.
I was just talking about GITS there other day.
Really haven't watched much of BFI's Japan season - a lot of Kurosawa I'm yet to watch. 3 from Beat Takeshi added recently so must give them a rewatch.
I never really got the message behind EWS.
Was it meant to be about the hedonism of the elite?
An allegory on doldrums of married life?
The shop scene with the daughter and Japanese business men is probably what stuck with me most.
Apparently, Kubrick exhausted the cast with doing take after take of the same scene.

I think it’s largely occupied with notions of class - new money encroaching on old money and being barred, for instance - but I primarily read it as a treatise on the transactional nature of human relationships. Cruise is constantly trading things - money, passwords, eye for an eye sexual fantasies and revenge - for access to whatever it is he wants access to. The way women are treated in the film as well, completely transactional, as well as his piano playing buddy; think a lot of that goes hand in hand with the hedonism of the upper classes.
Watching "once upon a time In America" for the first time. This movie is kinda strange and really rapey.
RIP Wilford Brimley. One of my favorite movies of his is The China Syndrome. If you haven't seen it before, he's great in it and Jack Lemmon should've won an Oscar for his role.
