My gf didn’t like it much, she found it too weird. Think I put her off watching anymore. So I’ll have to watch more Ghibli when she naps.

By reilo Go To PostGrave of the Fireflies 😭😭😭😭Don't watch this n8. It's not worth it.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is another good one. Just never really gets thrown out there so I'm doing it. It's technically pre Ghibli but it's by all other measures a Ghibli.
By Lunatic Go To PostDon't watch this n8. It's not worth it.He watched United under Moyes. He can handle it.

Old school Ghibli (and stuff people like best) had Miyazaki on story and director. Recent stuff not so much.
By Daz Go To PostBecause everyone is on that Makoto Shinkai dick.Weathering With You was just ok.
After watching some 90s movies and tv shows I realize how much my people have been marginalized by Hollywood
seriously though why is like every red headed male a little shit in every single movie

By Auto Simeone Go To PostI just watched Parasite
what a picture lads
what a fucking picture
review tomorrow
Gripping and unpredictable and intense throughout, it never wasted a single second of it's 132 minute runtime. The plot was excellent, the intensity was excellent, the acting was excellent, the pacing was excellent, the script was excellent, the choice of music was great, the cinematography was interesting, and the symbolism and themes will hit you like a truck. I relate to the Kim family, and the Park family as well which is a testament to the incredible writing of the characters.
It's hard to ignore Bong's brutal commentary on capitalism and wealth gap, and the tragic and honest ending really hammers the point home.
This movie largely revived my love for cinema. The fact that this movie exists could be a miracle in itself.
10/10

2 minutes into Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
The teacher not mentioning perspective as one of the things her students should take heed of whilst drawing her is infuriating. I'm not sure I can continue without confirmation that this story takes place before the discovery of linear perspective. Extremely important context that should have been stated before anything else.
Edit: eh she's cute I'll give it a chance
Edit2: an hour in, lots of sexual tension, not a whole lot of drawing ZzzzZz

I watched Relic tonight. It's an indie Australian film that is quite interesting in parts. A slow-burn yes, but I liked the atmosphere and there's at least some dread, at least more than most films.
Not a great film but I'm interested in seeing what the director does next.
3/5
