By /sy Go To Postdo yall actually hate nolan movies? they're entertaining to methey're fine
I want to watch a movie not a 1-hour Wikipedia entry explaining what is happening intermixed with 2 hours of something resembling a cool summer blockbuster
Maybe I'm getting antsy or just being a Texan, but I'm ready to risk it all to watch Tenet on an IMAX 70mm screen.
They're not my favorite movies or whatever but they're definitely far above the usual blockbuster tripe. Even his boring ones like the ww2 one i can't remember the name of was visually entertaining. Same for Interstellar.
I will admit, The Prestige is terrible.

Wow, can't believe Nolan posts here.
Memento was good. The Prestige was not. I liked the three Batman movies, even if the third was overindulgent. Inception, I've never seen a movie be so much less than the sum of its parts. Interstellar I enjoyed a lot. Dunkirk was incredibly boring.

The Prestige and Batman Begins are very good films. The rest of his stuff is decent apart from Rises which was incredibly disappointing guff.
His greatest crime is the ending of Interstellar, though.

The last act in Interstellar is abominable. It all goes to hell when Matt Damon shows up and the ending is insufferable.

Dunkirk 8/10yikes
The best part about Dunkirk was that it was less than 2 hours long but given that Nolan literally reuses the same scene and dialog during different parts of the movie it's pretty incredible that he squeezed more than 60 minutes out of that story-less dreck.
I really like Momento and Prestige.
Didn't care for interstellar or the time jumps in Dunkirk.
His only genuinely bad film for me is Rises. And he could probably just blame that on character fatigue.

I love Memento and The Prestige - and I love the ambition, aesthetic and atmosphere of Interstellar, even if the writing lets it down at points.
The rest are decent apart from TDKR which is bad.

I think Prestige and Memento my favs. Prestige is a good look at two different types of pieces of shit just absorbed in themselves and their craft and how they destroy everything around them and get more and more dissolute in pursuit of being the best.
Prestige, Batman Begins and Interstellar are my faves, all the other are good too, Dunkirk is passeable.

nah as far as quality film-making, Zodiac is top notch and above Se7en. I can see why lots of people would like Se7en more, though.
Damn, Gone Girl in 2014 was his last movie.

They were different times. You couldn't get away with murdering your family with an axe now without millenials getting all worked up about it.

More concise way of differentiating between quality of films
I could put a sliding scale from 1-10 of how I rank a film, a la
Dogshit
Very bad

numbers are quicker

By sohois Go To PostYeah but if you're doing a scale at least use a sensible one like a 1-7 or 1-5 scale
1-5 doesn't give enough differentiation tho m8
its more like
1 - dogshit
2 - poor
3 - decent
4 - good
5 - great
you lose that nuance between a 6 and a 7, an 8 and a 9
roger ebert used half stars so i regret NOTHING
although he did only use 4 stars like a maniac
Dunkirk 1.26/7
It's not like that much nuance is needed for Nolan films. They are fine for the most part. Just don't engage with his fans online.

Yeah, it's amazing how much energy they put in making the worst possible trailer for a movie.

Peter Jackson really had such a bright future before he got stuck making shit for nerds.
