By syrenity now! Go To Postthe top of what? A career of mostly terrible movies and performances?i was ready to disagree but i couldn't remember any great performances or even movies of her besides mad max and looking through imdb she has a horrible track record. goddamn.
Wasn't she great in Monster? Or was that all about the physical transformation rather than the performance?

She’s great in Monster, Young Adult, Long Shot, In the Valley of Elah, North Country. Monster especially is a brilliant performance.
Even good in trash like Atomic Blonde and Snow White. Good actress.

Think it’s both. It’s a hell of a transformation. But her body language and her eyes communicate so much about that character. Literally rewatched it like a week ago. It’s an incredible performance.

fair enough.
Seems like she has a pretty normal acting career where she appears regularly in movies, a lot of which are pretty bad but with a good selection of quality sprinkled throughout.
By Daz Go To PostDevil's Advocate - shit still holds up really well.
Peak Theron?
back when keanu’s voice still had some emotion in it.
i really like that movie. pacino is fun in it, too.
Devil's Advocate might've been his last great role but then I remember Any Given Sunday.
Irishman is still good but Pesci outclasses him in that.

The Insider was gr8 too m8.
Pacino probably has a better post-2000s track record than De Niro, at least. Marginally so, but until the Irishman I don’t think De Niro had done anything superb. Think Pacino has a few good ones post-millennium.

I mean, he did do good movies after 2000: Irishman, Ocean's 13, The Recruit, Once Upon a Time.. ,Two for the Money, Insomnia etc .. but he never was the best in those movies.
Don't think I've seen The Insider, I'll put it on my watch list.

de niro's next movie is with leo, directed by scorsese: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Killers_of_the_Flower_Moon_(film)
should be good!
should be good!
Cazale has the best run anyway (Godfather, Godfather pt 2, Dog Day Afternoon, The Conversation and the Deer Hunter) before he unfortunately passed away
But I do think Pacino has the greatest acting performance of all time in GF pt 2

By LFMartins86 Go To PostIn case 2020 wasn't weird enough, here is a trailer for thriller about a family being terrorised by a neo Nazi played by Kevin James. Is this some 21st Century serious Home
By bud Go To Posti'm not so sure about that. de niro in raging bull is phenomenal.Oh yeah, for sure, he's unbelievable in that film.
By Laboured Go To PostIt'd probably have to be Best of Pacino for me.AH-(HOO)HA
By Dipro Go To Postmy favourite Pacino is probably Al.Cap for me
Murder Mystery
I wished that Adam Sandler turned into his character from Uncut Gems and fucked everyone over, would have made it fun to watch
just an extremely lazy and boring film

By Laboured Go To PostWould like to know which movie made more money for him.Presumably the one where he was producer on it.

That would do it.
Rewatched Gone Girl last night. Funny film. Since I'd seen it before I obviously knew the 'twist' but I don't think at any point I'd buy that Affleck was the killer.
I hope that doesn't make me a misogynist but most of the top reviews on letterboxed are stanning the Gone Girl character so what can you do

By Laboured Go To PostChastain's really been working out…
But seriously this is so hard.
One is draggin' a wagon and the other is not.

Burning (2018) - really, really good. Reminded me a lot of Vertigo in its themes, lots of interesting character work and beautifully shot. There’s a bit where Trump is on the TV and the main character is pissing and flushing the toilet and it might be the greatest metaphor ever lmao
